Taguchi,Robert Vautard,Alex Vermeulen,Z. Zhu +41 more
TL;DR: The TransCom continuous experiment as mentioned in this paper was designed to evaluate the performance of forward transport model simulations at hourly, daily, and synoptic timescales, and focus on the latter two in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comprehensive model inter-comparison study investigating the water budget during the BALTEX-PIDCAP period
Daniela Jacob,B. J. J. M. van den Hurk,Ulf Andrae,Gunnar Elgered,C. Fortelius,L. P. Graham,S. D. Jackson,Ute Karstens,Chr. Köpken,Ralf Lindau,Ralf Podzun,Burkhardt Rockel,Franz Rubel,Bent Hansen Sass,R. N. B. Smith,Xiaohua Yang +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of 8 regional atmospheric model systems was carried out for a three-month late summer/early autumn period in 1995 over the Baltic Sea and its catchment area.
Journal ArticleDOI
TransCom model simulations of hourly atmospheric CO2: Experimental overview and diurnal cycle results for 2002
Rachel M. Law,Wouter Peters,Wouter Peters,Christian Rödenbeck,C. Aulagnier,Ian Baker,Dan Bergmann,Philippe Bousquet,Jørgen Brandt,Lori Bruhwiler,Philip Cameron-Smith,Jesper H. Taguchi,Masayuki Takigawa,Robert Vautard,Alex Vermeulen,Z. Zhu +41 more
TL;DR: A forward atmospheric transport modeling experiment has been coordinated by the TransCom group to investigate synoptic and diurnal variations in CO2 in 2000-2003 as discussed by the authors, and the results have been analyzed for diurnal changes and are compared with observed CO2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing atmospheric transport models for future regional inversions over Europe : part 1 : mapping the atmospheric CO2 signals
Camilla Geels,Manuel Gloor,Philippe Ciais,Philippe Bousquet,Philippe Peylin,Alex Vermeulen,Roger Dargaville,T. Aalto,Jørgen Brandt,Jesper H. Christensen,Lise M. Frohn,László Haszpra,Ute Karstens,Christian Rödenbeck,M. Ramonet,G. Carboni,R. Santaguida +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the performance of global coarse-resolution and regional higher-resolution models with continuous CO 2 observations from continental, coastal and mountain sites as well as flasks sampled on aircrafts to evaluate the models' ability to capture the spatiotemporal variability and distribution of lower troposphere CO 2 across Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urbanization impacts on the climate in Europe: Numerical experiments by the PSU-NCAR Mesoscale Model (MM5)
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of urban land cover on the climate in Europe on local and regional scales were investigated using the fifth-generation Pennsylvania State University-NCAR Mesoscale Model (MM5) with a modified land surface scheme based on the Town Energy Budget model.
