COVID-19 presenting as stroke.
Akshay Avula,Krishna Nalleballe,Naureen Narula,Steven Sapozhnikov,Vasuki Dandu,Sudhamshi Toom,Allison Glaser,Dany Elsayegh +7 more
TL;DR: Stroke teams should be wary of the fact that COVID-19 patients can present with cerebrovascular accidents and dawn appropriate personal protective equipment in every suspected patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exome Sequencing Reveals De Novo WDR45 Mutations Causing a Phenotypically Distinct, X-Linked Dominant Form of NBIA
Tobias B. Haack,Penelope Hogarth,Michael C. Kruer,Allison Gregory,Thomas Wieland,Thomas Schwarzmayr,Elisabeth Graf,Lynn Sanford,Esther Meyer,Esther Meyer,Eleanna Kara,Stephan M. Cuno,Sami I. Harik,Vasuki Dandu,Nardo Nardocci,Giovanna Zorzi,Todd Dunaway,Mark A. Tarnopolsky,Steven Skinner,Steven J. Strom,Nathalie Boddaert,Henry Houlden,Manju A Kurian,Manju A Kurian,Thomas Meitinger,Holger Prokisch,Susan J. Hayflick +34 more
TL;DR: De novo mutations in WDR45, a gene located at Xp11.23 and encoding a beta-propeller scaffold protein with a putative role in autophagy, cause a distinctive NBIA phenotype, and it is suggested that this clinically recognizable disorder be named accordingly as beta- Propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration: a new X-linked dominant disorder with brain iron accumulation
Susan J. Hayflick,Michael C. Kruer,Allison Gregory,Tobias B. Haack,Manju A Kurian,Manju A Kurian,Henry Houlden,James C. Anderson,Nathalie Boddaert,Lynn Sanford,Sami I. Harik,Vasuki Dandu,Nardo Nardocci,Giovanna Zorzi,Todd Dunaway,Mark A. Tarnopolsky,Steven Skinner,Kenton R. Holden,Steven J. Bhatia,Rajith de Silva,Sarah J. Crisp,Peter Lunt,Martyn Carey,John Hardy,Thomas Meitinger,Holger Prokisch,Penelope Hogarth +38 more
TL;DR: Beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration, the only X-linked disorder of neurodegenersation with brain iron accumulation, is associated with de novo mutations in WDR45 and is recognizable by a unique combination of clinical, natural history and neuroimaging features.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectrum of neuropsychiatric manifestations in COVID-19.
Krishna Nalleballe,Sanjeeva Onteddu,Rohan Sharma,Vasuki Dandu,Aliza T. Brown,Madhu Jasti,Sisira Yadala,Karthika Veerapaneni,Suman Siddamreddy,Akshay Avula,Nidhi Kapoor,Kamran Mudassar,Sukanthi Kovvuru +12 more
TL;DR: Early recognition and prompt management of neuropsychiatric manifestations in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have a potential to decrease overall morbidity and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of pathophysiology and neuropsychiatric manifestations of COVID-19.
TL;DR: The neurological manifestations of the COVID-19 are varied and the data about this continue to evolve as the pandemic continues to progress.
