Effects and safety of rituximab in systemic sclerosis: an analysis from the European Scleroderma Trial and Research (EUSTAR) group
Suzana Jordan,Jörg H W Distler,Britta Maurer,Dörte Huscher,Jacob M van Laar,Yannick Allanore,Oliver Distler,Tore K Kvien,Paolo Airò,Juan José Alegre Sancho,Lidia Ananjeva,Codrina Michaela Ancuta,Martin Aringer,Alexandra Balbir-Gurman,Francesco Paolo Cantatore,Paola Caramaschi,Emmanuel Chatelus,Veronica Codullo,Dominique Farge-Bancel,Rosario Foti,Armando Gabrielli,Jörg Henes,I. Saracco,Agneta Scheja,Vanessa Smith,Carina Mihai,Gabriela Szucs,Matija Tomšič,Gabriele Valentini,Ulrich A. Walker,Rene Westhovens,Sule Yavuz,Thierry Zenone +44 more
TL;DR: The comparison of RTX treated versus untreated matched-control SSc patients from the EUSTAR cohort demonstrated improvement of skin fibrosis and prevention of worsening lung fibrosis, supporting the therapeutic concept of B cell inhibition in SSc.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrasonographic evaluation of joint involvement in early rheumatoid arthritis in clinical remission: power Doppler signal predicts short-term relapse
Carlo Alberto Scirè,Carlomaurizio Montecucco,Veronica Codullo,Oscar Massimiliano Epis,Monica Todoerti,Roberto Caporali +5 more
TL;DR: In a cohort of early RA patients treated with conventional DMARDs, US-GS can detect residual disease activity more sensitively than clinical examination both in active disease and in remission and PD-positive synovial hypertrophy identifies an ongoing inflammation even during remission and predicts short-term relapse.
Journal ArticleDOI
B cells in rheumatoid arthritis.
TL;DR: Being much more than simple autoantibody producers, B cells are able to secrete many important cytokines and to efficiently present antigens to T lymphocytes in the synovial environment, and lately have claimed attention as B cell depletion has become a common and effective strategy of treatment in RA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of Antisynthetase Antibodies Specificities on Antisynthetase Syndrome Clinical Spectrum Time Course
Lorenzo Cavagna,Ernesto Trallero-Araguás,Federica Meloni,Ilaria Cavazzana,Jorge Rojas-Serrano,Eugen Feist,Giovanni Zanframundo,Valentina Morandi,Alain Meyer,José António Pereira da Silva,Carlo Jorge Matos Costa,Øyvind Molberg,Helena Andersson,Veronica Codullo,Marta Mosca,Simone Barsotti,Rossella Neri,Carlo Alberto Scirè,Marcello Govoni,Federica Furini,Francisco Javier López-Longo,Julia Martínez-Barrio,Udo Schneider,Hanns-Martin Lorenz,Andrea Doria,Anna Ghirardello,Norberto Ortego-Centeno,Marco Confalonieri,Paola Tomietto,Nicolò Pipitone,Ana Belén Rodriguez Cambrón,María Ángeles Blázquez Cañamero,Reinhard E. Vicente,Konstantinos Triantafyllias,Raquel López-Mejías,Marco Matucci-Cerinic,Albert Selva-O'Callaghan,Santos Castañeda,Carlomaurizio Montecucco,Miguel A. González-Gay +113 more
TL;DR: Survition was not influenced by the underlying anti-aminoacyl tRNA synthetase antibodies’ positivity, which confirmed that antisynthetase syndrome is a heterogeneous condition and that antibody specificity only partially influences the clinical presentation and evolution of this condition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating antirheumatic treatments using synovial biopsy: a recommendation for standardisation to be used in clinical trials
Marleen G H van de Sande,Danielle M. Gerlag,Beatrijs M. Lodde,Lisa G. M. van Baarsen,Stefano Alivernini,Veronica Codullo,Ioana Felea,Elsa Vieira-Sousa,Ursula Fearon,Richard Reece,Carlomaurizio Montecucco,Douglas J. Veale,Costantino Pitzalis,Paul Emery,Lars Klareskog,Iain B. McInnes,Paul P. Tak +16 more
TL;DR: This paper outlines the currently used procedures for sampling and processing of synovial tissue, and presents a standardised recommendation to support multicentre translational research.
