TL;DR: Comparative genome analysis between cultivated rice subspecies shows that there is an overall syntenic relationship between the chromosomes and divergence at the level of single-nucleotide polymorphisms and insertions and deletions, and by contrast, there is little conservation in gene order between rice and Arabidopsis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human fetal auditory stem cells can be expanded in vitro and differentiate into functional auditory neurons and hair cell-like cells.
TL;DR: In this paper, the identification and isolation of a population of SOX2+OCT4+ human auditory stem cells from 9-week-old to 11-weekold fetal cochleae (hFASCs) was described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monitoring of gene expression profiles and isolation of candidate genes involved in pollination and fertilization in rice ( Oryza sativa L.) with a 10K cDNA microarray.
Lefu Lan,Wei Chen,Ying Lai,Jinfeng Suo,Zhaosheng Kong,Can Li,Ying Lu,Yujun Zhang,Xiang Yu Zhao,Xian Sheng Zhang,Yansheng Zhang,Bin Han,Jing Cheng,Yongbiao Xue +13 more
TL;DR: The results indicated that this cDNA microarray constructed here is reliable and can be used for monitoring gene expression profiles in rice and the genes that differentially expressed during pollination represent candidate genes for dissecting molecular mechanism of this important biological process in rice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human-derived neural progenitors functionally replace astrocytes in adult mice
Hong Chen,Kun Qian,Wei Chen,Baoyang Hu,Lisle W. Blackbourn,Zhongwei Du,Lixiang Ma,Huisheng Liu,Karla M. Knobel,Melvin Ayala,Su-Chun Zhang +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that after transplantation into the cervical spinal cords of adult mice with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), human pluripotent stem cell-derived (PSC-derived) neural progenitors migrate a long distance and differentiate to astrocytes that nearly replace their mouse counterparts over a 9-month period.
Journal ArticleDOI
The human fetal cochlea can be a source for auditory progenitors/stem cells isolation.
TL;DR: The suitability of the developing fetal cochlea to be used as a source for the extraction of auditory progenitor/stem cells is explored and cultures that express critical markers such as NESTIN, SOX2, GATA3 and PAX2 are established.
