Molecular epidemiology of HIV-associated tuberculosis in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: strain predominance, clustering and polyclonal disease
Lisa V. Adams,Barry N. Kreiswirth,Robert D. Arbeit,H. Soini,Lillian Mtei,Mecky Matee,Muhammad Bakari,Timothy Lahey,Wendy Wieland-Alter,Elena Shashkina,Natalia Kurepina,Jeffrey Driscoll,Kisali Pallangyo,C. Robert Horsburgh,C. Fordham von Reyn +14 more
TL;DR: Molecular typing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis can be used to elucidate the epidemiology of tuberculosis, including the rates of clustering, the frequency of polyclonal disease, and the distribution of genotypic families.
Posted ContentDOI
Boosting of Cross-Reactive Antibodies to Endemic Coronaviruses by SARS-CoV-2 Infection but not Vaccination with Stabilized Spike
Andrew R. Crowley,Harini Natarajan,Andrew P Hederman,Carly A. Bobak,Joshua A. Weiner,Wendy Wieland-Alter,Jiwon Lee,Evan M. Bloch,Aaron A.R. Tobian,Andrew D. Redd,Andrew D. Redd,Joel N. Blankson,Dana G. Wolf,Tessa Goetghebuer,Arnaud Marchant,Ruth I. Connor,Peter F. Wright,Margaret E. Ackerman +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, an observational study of mucosal and systemic humoral immunity in acutely infected, convalescent, and vaccinated subjects, tested for cross reactivity against endemic CoV spike (S) protein at subdomain resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD4+ T cell cytokine responses to the DAR-901 booster vaccine in BCG-primed adults: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
Tereza Masonou,David A. Hokey,Timothy Lahey,Alice Halliday,Luis C Berrocal-Almanza,Wendy Wieland-Alter,Robert D. Arbeit,Ajit Lalvani,C. Fordham von Reyn +8 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that induction of higher levels of CD4+ cytokine stimulation may not be a critical or pre-requisite characteristic for candidate TB vaccine boosters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intestinal antibody responses to a live oral poliovirus vaccine challenge among adults previously immunized with inactivated polio vaccine in Sweden.
Elizabeth B. Brickley,Elizabeth B. Brickley,Ruth I Connor,Wendy Wieland-Alter,Marc S. Collett,Marianne Hartford,Harrie van der Avoort,Austin W. Boesch,Joshua A. Weiner,Margaret E. Ackerman,Mark A McKinlay,Minetaro Arita,Ananda S Bandyopadhyay,John F. Modlin,Peter F. Wright +14 more
TL;DR: This investigation finds that adults previously vaccinated with IPV have only modest intestinal poliovirus type 1-specific neutralisation and no IgA responses that are measurable in stool samples following documented mOPV1 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Specificity of the tuberculin skin test and the T-SPOT.TB assay among students in a low-tuberculosis incidence setting.
TL;DR: T-SPOT.TB specificity was high among low-risk students, and additional studies such as cost-effectiveness analyses using T-SPot.TB as a single or confirmatory test to TST are needed to contribute to LTBI screening policy decisions.
