Journal ArticleDOI

A plasma exchange versus immune globulin infusion trial in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy

TL;DR: Both treatments are efficacious in ameliorating neurological deficit in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy and the frequency and dosage needed to maintain good function could be titrated by assessing the neurological disability score and the summated muscle action potentials at 6‐week intervals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy with diaphragm and vocal cord paresis

TL;DR: Two kindreds with an autosomal dominant inherited disorder characterized by a variable degree of muscle weakness of limbs, vocal cords, and intercostal muscles and by asymptomatic sensory loss, beginning in infancy or childhood in severely affected persons are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the application of capsaicin cream in chronic distal painful polyneuropathy.

TL;DR: The early hyperalgesia on the CAPS side is interpreted as being responsible for the better performance of PLAC at early time points, and the large percentage of limbs that improved may be a pronounced PLAC response.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Alterations in Pulmonary Function and Sleep Variables on Survival in Patients With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

TL;DR: Routine pulmonary function tests may be useful for screening for reductions in nocturnal oxygen saturation and also may have prognostic value, according to the results of spirometry, which was compared with several formal polysomnographic variables.
