Journal ArticleDOI

Amino acids from ultraviolet irradiation of interstellar ice analogues.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the spontaneous generation of amino acids in the interstellar medium is possible, supporting the suggestion that prebiotic molecules could have been delivered to the early Earth by cometary dust, meteorites or interplanetary dust particles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of diamino acids in the Murchison meteorite

TL;DR: The results obtained in this study favor the assumption that not only amino acids (as the required monomers of proteins) form in interstellar/circumstellar environments, but also the family of diamino monocarboxylic acids, which might have been relevant in prebiotic chemistry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cosac, The Cometary Sampling and Composition Experiment on Philae

TL;DR: In this article, the COSAC instrument, part of the ESA cometary mission Rosetta, was designed to characterize, identify, and quantify volatile cometary compounds, including larger organic molecules, by in situ measurements of surface and subsurface cometary samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contamination by selected chlorinated pesticides in surface waters in Hanoi, Vietnam.

TL;DR: The results showed that the contamination of the banned pesticides was highest in the rivers and then in the irrigation canals, followed by the lakes and wells, and the highest concentration of DDTs detected in a river sample was much lower than their allowable limit of concentration in surface waters.
