Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of plasmid-mediated colistin resistance mechanism MCR-1 in animals and human beings in China: A microbiological and molecular biological study
Yiyun Liu,Yang Wang,Timothy R. Walsh,Ling-Xian Yi,Rong Zhang,James Spencer,Yohei Doi,Guo-Bao Tian,Baolei Dong,Xianhui Huang,Lin-Feng Yu,Danxia Gu,Hongwei Ren,Xiaojie Chen,Luchao Lv,Dandan He,Hongwei Zhou,Zi-sen Liang,Jian-Hua Liu,Jianzhong Shen +19 more
TL;DR: The emergence of MCR-1 heralds the breach of the last group of antibiotics, polymyxins, by plasmid-mediated resistance, in Enterobacteriaceae and emphasise the urgent need for coordinated global action in the fight against pan-drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of ractopamine and clenbuterol in feeds by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry
TL;DR: A simple, sensitive and reproducible gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric method was developed for monitoring ractopamine (RAC) and clenbuterol (CLB) in feeds as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and Dissemination of oqxAB in Escherichia coli Isolates from Animals, Farmworkers, and the Environment
Jing-Jing Zhao,Zhangliu Chen,Sheng Chen,Yuting Deng,Ya-Hong Liu,Wei Tian,Xianhui Huang,Congming Wu,Congming Wu,Yongxu Sun,Yan Sun,Zhenling Zeng,Jian-Hua Liu +12 more
TL;DR: The pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) analysis showed that the high levels of prevalence and dissemination of oqxAB in E. coli in animal farms were primarily due to the transmission of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance, although clonal transmission between human and swine E. Escherichia coli isolates was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dissemination of the Fosfomycin Resistance Gene fosA3 with CTX-M β-Lactamase Genes and rmtB Carried on IncFII Plasmids among Escherichia coli Isolates from Pets in China
Jianxia Hou,Xianhui Huang,Yuting Deng,Liangying He,Tong Yang,Zhenling Zeng,Zhangliu Chen,Jian-Hua Liu +7 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that the fosA3 gene may be coselected by antimicrobials other than fosfomycin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of a Plasmid-Encoded Resistance-Nodulation-Division Efflux Pump Conferring Resistance to Multiple Drugs, Including Tigecycline, in Klebsiella Pneumoniae
Luchao Lv,Miao Wan,Cheng-Zhen Wang,Xun Gao,Qiwen Yang,Sally R. Partridge,Yang Wang,Zhiyong Zong,Yohei Doi,Yohei Doi,Jianzhong Shen,Peiyao Jia,Qianhua Song,Qianhui Zhang,Jun Yang,Xianhui Huang,Minggui Wang,Jian-Hua Liu +17 more
TL;DR: A new plasmid-borne RND-type tigecycline resistance determinant, TMexCD1-TOprJ1, which is widespread among K. pneumoniae isolates from food animals and appears to have originated from the chromosome of a Pseudomonas species and may have been transferred onto plasmids by adjacent site-specific integrases.
