Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of plasmid-mediated colistin resistance mechanism MCR-1 in animals and human beings in China: A microbiological and molecular biological study
Yiyun Liu,Yang Wang,Timothy R. Walsh,Ling-Xian Yi,Rong Zhang,James Spencer,Yohei Doi,Guo-Bao Tian,Baolei Dong,Xianhui Huang,Lin-Feng Yu,Danxia Gu,Hongwei Ren,Xiaojie Chen,Luchao Lv,Dandan He,Hongwei Zhou,Zi-sen Liang,Jian-Hua Liu,Jianzhong Shen +19 more
TL;DR: The emergence of MCR-1 heralds the breach of the last group of antibiotics, polymyxins, by plasmid-mediated resistance, in Enterobacteriaceae and emphasise the urgent need for coordinated global action in the fight against pan-drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fitness Advantage of mcr-1-Bearing IncI2 and IncX4 Plasmids in Vitro.
Renjie Wu,Ling-Xian Yi,Lin-Feng Yu,Jing Wang,Yiyun Liu,Xiaojie Chen,Luchao Lv,Jun Yang,Jian-Hua Liu +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that IncI2, IncX4, and IncHI2 were the major plasmid types driving the dissemination of mcr-1 in this farm and worldwide and increased fitness or co-selection by other antimicrobials might contribute to the further dissemination of the three epidemic mCr-1–positive plasmids.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Prevalence of Colistin Resistance and mcr-1 Gene in Escherichia coli Isolated from Food Animals in China
Xianhui Huang,Lin-Feng Yu,Xiaojie Chen,Chanping Zhi,Xu Yao,Yiyun Liu,Shengjun Wu,Ze-Wen Guo,Linxian Yi,Zhenling Zeng,Jian-Hua Liu +10 more
TL;DR: The high frequency of colistin resistance and mcr-1 gene among E. coli isolates from food animals in China urged the need to minimize potential risks of colistsin resistance development and the spread of mcr -1 gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
F33: A-: B-, IncHI2/ST3, and IncI1/ST71 plasmids drive the dissemination of fosA3 and blaCTX−M−55/−14/−65 in Escherichia coli from chickens in China
Xiaoyun Yang,Wuling Liu,Yiyun Liu,Jing Wang,Luchao Lv,Xiaojie Chen,Dandan He,Tong Yang,Jianxia Hou,Yinjuan Tan,Li Xing,Zhenling Zeng,Jian-Hua Liu +12 more
TL;DR: The results showed a surprisingly high prevalence of fosA3 gene in E. coli isolates recovered from chicken in China, which can be attributed to horizontal dissemination of several epidemic plasmids, especially F33:A-:B- plasmid.
Journal ArticleDOI
mcr-1-Harboring Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium Sequence Type 34 in Pigs, China.
Linxian Yi,Jing Wang,Yanling Gao,Yiyun Liu,Yohei Doi,Renjie Wu,Zhenling Zeng,Zi-sen Liang,Jian-Hua Liu +8 more
TL;DR: The mcr-1 gene was detected in 21 Salmonella isolates from pigs at slaughter; 19 were serovar Typhimurium sequence type 34 and the gene was located on IncHI2-like plasmids that also harbored IncF replicons and lacked a conjugative transfer region.
