Journal ArticleDOI

Heart development in Drosophila requires the segment polarity gene wingless.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the gene wingless (wg), which is known to specify segmental polarity and neuroblast identity in Drosophila, has a novel role in mesoderm development: wg function is specifically required for heart development.
Journal ArticleDOI

The wingless signaling pathway is directly involved in Drosophila heart development.

TL;DR: It is shown that wg is epistatic to hedgehog, another secreted segmentation gene product, in its requirement for heart formation, and evidence show that downstream of wg in the signal transduction cascade, dishevelled and armadillo are mediating the cardiogenic Wg signal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulation of bone formation and remodeling by G-protein-coupled receptor 48

TL;DR: Gpr48 regulates bone formation and remodeling through the cAMP-PKA-Atf4 signaling pathway and significantly downregulates the expression levels of Atf4 target genes/proteins, such as osteocalcin, bone sialoprotein and collagen.
Journal ArticleDOI

13q deletions in lymphoid malignancies

TL;DR: The data suggest that 13q deletions are common in lymphoid neoplasms, and that deletion of a candidate tumor suppressor gene(s) in the vicinity of the D13S319 marker is a tumorigenic event in these diseases.
