Journal ArticleDOI
Combustion characteristics of a 4-stroke CI engine operated on Honge oil, Neem and Rice Bran oils when directly injected and dual fuelled with producer gas induction
TL;DR: In this paper, a single cylinder, four-stroke, direct injection, water-cooled CI engine operated in single fuel mode using Honge, Neem and Rice Bran oils.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of compression ratio, CNG flow rate and injection timing on the performance of dual fuel engine operated on honge oil methyl ester (HOME) and compressed natural gas (CNG)
R. S. Hosmath,Nagaraj R. Banapurmath,S. V. Khandal,V.N. Gaitonde,Y.H. Basavarajappa,V.S. Yaliwal +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance, combustion and exhaust emissions of a single cylinder, four stroke, water cooled, direct injection (DI) diesel engine operated on Honge oil methyl ester (HOME) as the injected fuel and CNG as the inducted fuel by varying the compression ratio, CNG flow rate and injection timing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of compression ratio, swirl augmentation techniques and ethanol addition on the combustion of CNG-biodiesel in a dual-fuel engine
Nagaraj R. Banapurmath,Wojciech M. Budzianowski,Y.H. Basavarajappa,R. S. Hosmath,V.S. Yaliwal,P.G. Tewari +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of compression ratio, swirl augmentation techniques and ethanol addition on the combustion of compressed natural gas (CNG) blended with Honge oil methyl esters (HOME) in a dual fuel engine were examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen Injection in a Dual Fuel Engine Fueled with Low-Pressure Injection of Methyl Ester of Thevetia Peruviana (METP) for Diesel Engine Maintenance Application
Mahantesh Marikatti,N. R. Banapurmath,V.S. Yaliwal,Y.H. Basavarajappa,Manzoore Elahi M. Soudagar,Fausto Pedro García Márquez,M.A. Mujtaba,H. Fayaz,Bharat Naik,T. M. Yunus Khan,Asif Afzal,Ahmed I. EL-Seesy +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the consequence of biodiesel and gaseous fuel properties, and their impact on compression-ignition (CI) engine combustion and emission characteristics in single and dual fuel operation was mapped to scrutinize the consequence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of hydrogen addition to CNG in a biodiesel-operated dual-fuel engine
Nagaraj R. Banapurmath,N.M. Gireesh,Y.H. Basavarajappa,R. S. Hosmath,V.S. Yaliwal,Abhay Pai,Kishan Gopal Navale,Priyanka Jog,P.G. Tewari +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a small quantity of liquid fuel injected towards the end of the compression stroke initiates combustion of the inducted gas in the dual-fuel engines, which can replace a considerable amount of liquid-injected pilot fuels by gaseous fuels.
