Journal ArticleDOI
Nonlinear temperature dependence of the crystal structure of lysozyme: correlation between coordinate shifts and thermal factors.
TL;DR: The static and dynamic structures of human lysozyme at seven different temperatures ranging from 113 to 178 K were investigated by normal-mode refinement of the cryogenic X-ray diffraction data collected from a single crystal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural basis for light control of cell development revealed by crystal structures of a myxobacterial phytochrome
Nicole C. Woitowich,Andrei S. Halavaty,Patricia M Waltz,Christopher Kupitz,Joseph Valera,Gregory Tracy,Kevin D. Gallagher,Elin Claesson,Takanori Nakane,Suraj Pandey,Garrett Nelson,Rie Tanaka,Eriko Nango,Eiichi Mizohata,Shigeki Owada,Kensure Tono,Yasumasa Joti,Angela C. Nugent,Hardik Patel,Ayesha Mapara,James Hopkins,Phu Duong,Dorina Bizhga,Svetlana E. Kovaleva,Rachael St. Peter,Cynthia N. Hernandez,Wesley B. Ozarowski,Shatabdi Roy-Chowdhuri,Jay How Yang,Petra Edlund,Heikki Takala,Heikki Takala,Janne A. Ihalainen,Jennifer Brayshaw,Tyler Norwood,Ishwor Poudyal,Petra Fromme,John C. H. Spence,Keith Moffat,Sebastian Westenhoff,Marius Schmidt,Emina A. Stojković +41 more
TL;DR: Light control of cell development is revealed by phytochrome structures of Myxobacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Redox-coupled structural changes in nitrite reductase revealed by serial femtosecond and microfocus crystallography
Yohta Fukuda,Ka Man Tse,Mamoru Suzuki,Kay Diederichs,Kunio Hirata,Takanori Nakane,Michihiro Sugahara,Eriko Nango,K. Tono,Yasumasa Joti,Takashi Kameshima,Changyong Song,Takaki Hatsui,Makina Yabashi,Osamu Nureki,Hiroyoshi Matsumura,Tsuyoshi Inoue,So Iwata,Eiichi Mizohata +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that catalytic Cu in the form free of nitrite is reduced and changes its coordination structure in SRX, and this finding, which SRX has failed to uncover, provides new insight into the reaction mechanism of CuNiR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atomic resolution structure of serine protease proteinase K at ambient temperature
Tetsuya Masuda,Mamoru Suzuki,Shigeyuki Inoue,Changyong Song,Takanori Nakane,Eriko Nango,Rie Tanaka,K. Tono,Yasumasa Joti,Takashi Kameshima,Takaki Hatsui,Makina Yabashi,Bunzo Mikami,Osamu Nureki,Keiji Numata,So Iwata,Michihiro Sugahara +16 more
TL;DR: The 1.20 Å resolution structure of proteinase K is described using 13 keV photon energy and suggests that the residues and water molecules adjacent to active sites were flexible and exhibited dynamic motions at specific substrate-recognition sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Angular correlations of photons from solution diffraction at a free-electron laser encode molecular structure.
Derek Mendez,Herschel M. Watkins,Shenglan Qiao,Kevin S. Raines,Thomas J. Lane,Gundolf Schenk,Garrett Nelson,Ganesh Subramanian,Kensuke Tono,Yasumasa Joti,Makina Yabashi,Daniel Ratner,Sebastian Doniach,Sebastian Doniach +13 more
TL;DR: An atomic twinning structure is observed by averaging intensity correlations from many snapshots of gold nanoparticles in solution.
