Fabrication of Fe3O4 and graphitized porous biochar composites for activating peroxymonosulfate to degrade p-hydroxybenzoic acid: Insights on the mechanism

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Fe3O4 and porous biochar derived from Myriophyllum aquaticum composites for degradation of organic pollutants in the presence of peroxymonosulfate (PMS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel magnetic biochar as an activator for peroxymonosulfate to degrade bisphenol A: Emphasizing the synergistic effect between graphitized structure and CoFe2O4

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of CoFe2O4/HPC nanoparticles was investigated in the presence of peroxymonosulfate and showed that the graphitized structure and the synergistic effect between graphitized structures and CoFe 2O4 nanoparticles were the main factors responsible for the superior performance of the nanoparticles compared to other catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Activation of peroxymonosulfate by iron-biochar composites: Comparison of nanoscale Fe with single-atom Fe.

TL;DR: D density functional theory calculations demonstrated the enhanced density of states around Fermi level in ISA-Fe/MC meaning the increased catalytic performance and more electron transfer between single-atom Fe to adjacent graphitic C and N which could serve as electron transfer channel for PMS activation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uncovering the mechanism of novel AgInS2 nanosheets/TiO2 nanobelts composites for photocatalytic remediation of combined pollution

TL;DR: In this article, a novel AgInS2 nanosheets/TiO2 nanobelts photocatalyst was prepared by a facile hydrothermal method, which showed excellent photocatalytic performance in simultaneous Escherichia coli (E. coli) disinfection and Cr(VI) reduction or E. coli degradation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The mechanism changes during bisphenol A degradation in three iron functionalized biochar/peroxymonosulfate systems: The crucial roles of iron contents and graphitized carbon layers.

TL;DR: This work would provide a simple and feasible method, namely changing the ratio of potassium ferrate and biochar, to manipulate the radical and nonradical degradation pathway in PMS-based organic wastewater purification.
