A compact free-electron laser for generating coherent radiation in the extreme ultraviolet region
Tsumoru Shintake,Hitoshi Tanaka,Toru Hara,Takashi Tanaka,Kazuaki Togawa,Makina Yabashi,Yuji Otake,Yoshihiro Asano,T. Bizen,Toru Fukui,Shunji Goto,Atsushi Higashiya,T. Hirono,Naoyasu Hosoda,Takahiro Inagaki,Shinobu Inoue,Miho Ishii,Yujong Kim,Hiroaki Kimura,Masanobu Kitamura,T. Kobayashi,Hirokazu Maesaka,Takemasa Masuda,Sakuo Matsui,Tomohiro Matsushita,Xavier Maréchal,Mitsuru Nagasono,Haruhiko Ohashi,Toru Ohata,Takashi Ohshima,K. Onoe,Katsutoshi Shirasawa,Tetsuya Takagi,Sunao Takahashi,Masao Takeuchi,Kenji Tamasaku,Ryotaro Tanaka,Yoshihito Tanaka,T. Tanikawa,Tadashi Togashi,Shukui Wu,Akihiro Yamashita,Kenichi Yanagida,Chao Zhang,Hideo Kitamura,Tetsuya Ishikawa +45 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a 55m-long compact self-amplified spontaneous emission (SEM) source with a low acceleration energy of 250 MeV was used to generate X-ray free-electron laser radiation with a 2-GeV machine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Injection of harmonics generated in gas in a free-electron laser providing intense and coherent extreme-ultraviolet light
Guillaume Lambert,Toru Hara,D. Garzella,T. Tanikawa,Marie Labat,Bertrand Carré,Hideo Kitamura,Tsumoru Shintake,M. Bougeard,S. Inoue,Yoshihito Tanaka,Pascal Salières,Hamed Merdji,Oleg Chubar,Olivier Gobert,K. Tahara,M. E. Couprie +16 more
TL;DR: Seeding a free-electron laser with pulses from a high-harmonic UV-light source increases its output intensity by three orders of magnitude as discussed by the authors, which has the potential to generate temporally coherent light at wavelengths down to the all-important "water window".
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural basis for the fast phase change of Ge2Sb2Te5: Ring statistics analogy between the crystal and amorphous states
Shinji Kohara,Kenichi Kato,Shigeru Kimura,Hitoshi Tanaka,Takeshi Usuki,Kentaro Suzuya,Hiroshi Tanaka,Yutaka Moritomo,Toshiyuki Matsunaga,Noboru Yamada,Yoshihito Tanaka,Hiroyoshi Suematsu,Masaki Takata +12 more
TL;DR: The three-dimensional atomic configuration of amorphous Ge2Sb2Te5 and GeTe was derived by reverse Monte Carlo simulation with synchrotron-radiation x-ray diffraction data as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
SPring-8 RIKEN beamline III for coherent X-ray optics
Kenji Tamasaku,Yoshihito Tanaka,Makina Yabashi,Hiroshi Yamazaki,N. Kawamura,Motohiro Suzuki,Tetsuya Ishikawa +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an X-ray undulator beamline with a 1 km long transport channel was constructed and high quality beam with more than 6×10 13 photons/s was delivered by an in-vacuum undulator and a cryogenic cooling system adapted to the monochromator.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydride bridge in [NiFe]-hydrogenase observed by nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy.
Hideaki Ogata,Tobias Krämer,Hongxin Wang,Hongxin Wang,David Schilter,David Schilter,Vladimir Pelmenschikov,Maurice van Gastel,Frank Neese,Thomas B. Rauchfuss,Leland B. Gee,Aubrey D. Scott,Yoshitaka Yoda,Yoshihito Tanaka,Wolfgang Lubitz,Stephen P. Cramer,Stephen P. Cramer +16 more
TL;DR: Direct evidence is presented for a hydride bridge in the active site of the 57Fe-labelled fully reduced Ni-R form of Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F [NiFe]-hydrogenase, relevant to characterizing Fe–H moieties in other important natural and synthetic catalysts.
