Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 (previously 2019-nCoV) infection by a highly potent pan-coronavirus fusion inhibitor targeting its spike protein that harbors a high capacity to mediate membrane fusion.
Shuai Xia,Meiqin Liu,Chao Wang,Wei Xu,Qiaoshuai Lan,Siliang Feng,Feifei Qi,Linlin Bao,Lanying Du,Shuwen Liu,Chuan Qin,Fei Sun,Zhengli Shi,Yun Zhu,Shibo Jiang,Shibo Jiang,Lu Lu +16 more
TL;DR: EK1C4 was the most potent fusion inhibitor against SARS-CoV-2 S protein-mediated membrane fusion and pseudovirus infection with IC50s of 1.3 and 15.8 nM, about 241- and 149-fold more potent than the original EK1 peptide, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fusion mechanism of 2019-nCoV and fusion inhibitors targeting HR1 domain in spike protein.
Shuai Xia,Yun Zhu,Meiqin Liu,Qiaoshuai Lan,Wei Xu,Yanling Wu,Tianlei Ying,Shuwen Liu,Zhengli Shi,Shibo Jiang,Shibo Jiang,Lu Lu +11 more
TL;DR: A novel coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, emerged in Wuhan, China and then quickly spread worldwide, resulting in >17,388 confirmed cases and 361 deaths as of 3 February 2020, thus calling for the development of safe and effective therapeutics and prophylatics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure-based discovery of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus fusion inhibitor
Lu Lu,Qi Liu,Yun Zhu,Kwok-Hung Chan,Lili Qin,Yuan Yuan Li,Qian Wang,Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan,Lanying Du,Fei Yu,Cuiqing Ma,Sheng Ye,Kwok-Yung Yuen,Rongguang Zhang,Shibo Jiang +14 more
TL;DR: It is found that two peptides, HR1P and HR2P, spanning residues 998–1039 in HR1 and 1251–1286 in HR2 domains, respectively, can form a stable six-helix bundle fusion core structure, suggesting that MERS-CoV enters into the host cell mainly through membrane fusion mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of furin cleavage site in SARS-CoV-2 spike protein-mediated membrane fusion in the presence or absence of trypsin.
Shuai Xia,Qiaoshuai Lan,Shan Su,Xinling Wang,Wei Xu,Zezhong Liu,Yun Zhu,Qian Wang,Lu Lu,Shibo Jiang +9 more
TL;DR: It has been speculated that RRAR, a unique furin-like cleavage site in the spike protein (S), which is absent in other lineage B βCoVs, such as SARS-CoV, is responsible for its high infectivity and transmissibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Growth of Graphene Film on Germanium Substrate
Gang Wang,Miao Zhang,Yun Zhu,Guqiao Ding,Da Jiang,Qinglei Guo,Su Liu,Xiaoming Xie,Paul K. Chu,Zengfeng Di,Xi Wang +10 more
TL;DR: By ambient-pressure chemical vapor deposition, large-scale and uniform depositon of high-quality graphene directly on a Ge substrate which is wafer scale is demonstrated, allowing integration with high-volume production of complementary metal-oxide-semiconductors (CMOS).
