Taxonomical diversity of Pseudo-nitzschia from the Central Adriatic Sea
Jasna Arapov,Sanda Skejić,Mia Bužančić,Ana Bakrač,Olja Vidjak,Natalia Bojanić,Ivana Ujević,Živana Ninčević Gladan +7 more
TL;DR: The results represent the first taxonomical investigation of the genus Pseudo‐nitzschia in Kaštela Bay, as well as the first report of DA in shellfish from this area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coccolithophore diversity in open waters of the middle Adriatic Sea in pre- and post-winter periods
Sanda Skejić,Jasna Arapov,Vedrana Kovačević,Mia Bužančić,Manuel Bensi,Michele Giani,Ana Bakrač,Hrvoje Mihanović,Živana Ninčević Gladan,Lidia Urbini,Branka Grbec +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe coccolithophore assemblages in open middle Adriatic waters, in relation to in-situ environmental parameters measured during the pre-winter (December 2015) and postwinter (April 2016) periods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of fish farming on microbial planktonic communities in the middle Adriatic sea
TL;DR: Results from this study reveal a potential common pattern of microbial response to farming in the oligotrophic environments and suggest the importance of heterotrophic microbial web in transferring the matter and energy released from the fish farms in nutrient poor environments.
Journal Article
Population structure and abundance of phytoplankton in three bays on the eastern Adriatic coast: Šibenik Bay, Kaštela Bay and Mali Ston Bay
Mia Bužančić,Živana Ninčević Gladan,Ivona Marasović,Grozdan Kušpilić,Grbec Branka,Slavica Matijević +5 more
TL;DR: A diverse microflagellate group was present in the whole area of investigation with a high frequency of findings and contributed more to the community composition in Mali Ston Bay, then in other areas of research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of water column stability dynamics on the succession of plankton food web types in the offshore area of the Adriatic Sea
Mladen Šolić,Danijela Šantić,Stefanija Šestanović,Natalia Bojanić,Branka Grbec,Slaven Jozić,Ana Vrdoljak,Marin Ordulj,Frano Matić,Grozdan Kušpilić,Živana Ninčević Gladan +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed consistent short-term cyclic successions of the plankton food web types, governed by the dynamics of water column stability changes, occurring in generally oligotrophic, phosphate deficient surface waters of the open middle Adriatic Sea.
