Massive Occurrence of the Harmful Benthic Dinoflagellate Ostreopsis cf. ovata in the Eastern Adriatic Sea.

TL;DR: In September 2015, a massive occurrence of the Ostreopsis species was recorded in central Adriatic Kaštela Bay and cells collected in seawater and from benthic macroalgae were analyzed to taxonomically identify the species and determine their toxin profile.
Journal ArticleDOI

The relationship between toxic phytoplankton species occurrence and environmental and meteorological factors along the Eastern Adriatic coast.

TL;DR: In this article, the time series of toxic phytoplankton species collected between 2004 and 2018 from the Northern Adriatic, Sibenik Bay, and Mali Ston Bay was analyzed in relation to environmental (temperature, salinity, water column stability, and river flow) and meteorological parameters (precipitation and wind).
Journal Article

Population structure and abundance of zooplankton along the Krka river estuary in spring 2006

TL;DR: The zooplankton assemblage was investigated in April 2006 at 9 stations along, and in front of, the highly stratified salt-wedge Krka river estuary, using 53- and 125-μm mesh Nansen nets, showing a general decrease in abundance and increase in species number from the head to the mouth of estuary.
Journal ArticleDOI

Is Yessotoxin the Main Phycotoxin in Croatian Waters

TL;DR: The phytoplankton community structure pattern revealed Lingulodinium polyedrum (Stein) Dodge, which was present in the water prior to and/or during toxicity events at low concentrations, as a potential YTX producing species.
