Abstract: The present work concerns a thorough investigation of the performance of a nano-nickel boride catalyst for the direct hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol (PNP) to p-aminophenol (PAP) in a batch slurry reactor using ethanol as solvent. The effect of pH during the synthesis procedure on the properties of the as-synthesized catalyst has been investigated using FTIR, XRD, ICP and FESEM analysis. The synthesized catalyst shows a better activity with respect to Raney nickel. The effect of catalyst preparatory method on its activity has been investigated. The effect of reaction temperature (40–80 °C), PNP initial concentration (0.07–0.28 g mL −1 ) and initial pressure (25–40 bar) on the reaction kinetics has been investigated. It has been shown that the kinetic behavior throughout the whole time domain could be reasonably predicted considering a single site mechanism with atomically adsorbed hydrogen and PNP adsorption as the controlling step.

Abstract: In this paper, we explore one of the possible ways to make decisions under uncertainty: namely, we explain how to define a fair price for a participation in such a decision, and then select an alternative for which the corresponding fair price is the largest. This idea is explained on the examples of interval uncertainty, set-valued, fuzzy, and Z-number uncertainty.

Abstract: It is known that one of the most spread forecasting methods is the time series analysis. A weakness of traditional crisp time series forecasting methods is that they process only measurement based numerical information and cannot deal with the perception-based historical data represented by linguistic values. Application of a new class of time series, a fuzzy time series whose values are linguistic values, can overcome the mentioned weakness of traditional forecasting methods. In this paper we propose a fuzzy recurrent neural network (FRNN) based time series forecasting method for solving forecasting problems in which the data can be presented as perceptions and described by fuzzy numbers. The FRNN allows effectively handle fuzzy time series to apply human expertise throughout the forecasting procedure and demonstrates more adequate forecasting results. Recurrent links in FRNN also allow for simplification of the overall network structure (size) and forecasting procedure. Genetic algorithm-based procedure is used for training the FRNN. The effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy time series forecasting method is tested on the benchmark examples.

Abstract: Pilates exercises have been shown beneficial impact on physical, physiological, and mental characteristics of human beings In this paper, Z-number based fuzzy approach is applied for modeling the effect of Pilates exercises on motivation, attention, anxiety, and educational achievement The measuring of psychological parameters is performed using internationally recognized instruments: Academic Motivation Scale (AMS), Test of Attention (D2 Test), and Spielberger's Anxiety Test completed by students The GPA of students was used as the measure of educational achievement Application of Z-information modeling allows us to increase precision and reliability of data processing results in the presence of uncertainty of input data created from completed questionnaires The basic steps of Z-number based modeling with numerical solutions are presented
