TL;DR: It is analytically proven that a factor of the solution is identical for all chains (considering a time scaling factor), if certain parameters do not change, and it is proven that the concentration sensitivity, due to the distribution coefficient variation, depends of the porous medium thickness, which is practically insensitive for small porousmedium thicknesses.

TL;DR: Pseudoboehmite nanoparticles synthesized through the desulfation of Al2(SO4)3 were used to investigate the reinforcement of commercial porcelain stoneware as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Pseudoboehmite nanoparticles synthesized through the desulfation of Al2(SO4)3 were used to investigate the reinforcement of commercial porcelain stoneware. Fractured specimens investigated by SEM suggest that the added pseudoboehmite precursor generated a nanometric primary mullite phase dispersed in the porcelain glassy phase that limited and stopped the intergranular crack propagation. The porcelain modulus of rupture increased twice the value of the modulus of rupture (108 MPa) as compared with that samples without pseudoboehmite additions. Pseudoboehmite also led to increased densification of porcelain stoneware bodies up to 1250°C as shown by thermodilatometry data.

11 Oct 2010TL;DR: In this article, a simple approach that puts the reuse of tubular fluorescent lamps into perspective is presented, where the operation of the lamp is through dielectric barrier discharge which is powered using short pulses voltage.
Abstract: Due to recent tendencies to optimize the use of the discharge lamps and the pollution problem caused by mercury, this paper outlines a simple approach that puts the reuse of tubular fluorescent lamps into perspective. The operation of the lamp is through dielectric barrier discharge which is powered using short pulses voltage. A Class-E converter, which is suitable for dielectric barrier discharge, is also described. Comments on experimental results from a converter working at 400 kHz switching frequency are made at the end.

TL;DR: In this paper, load reduction is considered as an alternative for deferring a distribution network upgrade for one or multiple years and an optimization problem is formulated to study multi-year distribution network operation planning.
Abstract: For a distribution area that is fully developed and loaded to near capacity, and the reinforcement cost to handle the expected load growth is high, it may be worthwhile to consider non-traditional capacity investment options, such as distributed generation (DG) and demand response (DR) in the distribution network planning. In this paper, load reduction (LR) is considered as an alternative for deferring a distribution network upgrade for one or multiple years and an optimization problem is formulated to study multi-year distribution network operation planning. In this study, price elasticity of demand and demand management contract scheme are used to estimate feasible LR for investment deferment.

01 Nov 2018TL;DR: In this article, a new model for calculating current and voltage distribution on the shield conductors of power substations during ligthning strikes reaching the physical installations is presented, based on multiconductor transmission line theory.
Abstract: In this paper, a new model for calculating current and voltage distribution on the shield conductors of power substations during ligthning strikes reaching the physical installations is presented. The model is based on multiconductor transmission line theory. First, the electrical parameters of vertical and horizontal shield conductors are calculated, then modal analysis is used to obtain a two port network representation for all the shield conductors, considering both their direction and inter-conection. The model is solved using a simplified representation for the substation grounding grid. Finally, the model results are compared with those presented by other authors in the literature, with good results.
