01 Dec 2009TL;DR: In this article, a semantic parse tree kernel-based processing system was proposed to automatically extract a semantic correlation between scientific and technological core entities, which includes parsing syntaxes, part-of-speech information, and base chunk information on input sentences.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a semantic parse tree kernel-based processing system and method of automatically extracting a semantic correlation between scientific and technological core entities. The method includes parsing syntaxes, part-of-speech information, and base chunk information on input sentences; extracting a relation of the syntaxes of the input sentences by performing a parse tree pruning based on the parsed syntaxes, part-of-speech information, and base chunk information; and extracting a similarity of the syntaxes of the input sentences by calculating a syntactic similarity, a lexical semantic similarity, and a semantic parse tree kernel of the syntaxes of the input sentences based on the extracted relations of the syntaxes of the input sentences, thereby more accurately calculating the similarity between two sentences.

TL;DR: The results show that although Korea has narrowed the differences of capabilities for technology convergence compared to the US, Korea not only has to continuously pursue the improvement of specialization for all three sectors, but also has to encourage the exploitation of different technology fields.
Abstract: This study was designed to improve the explanation for the behavior of the phenomenon of technology convergence. The concepts and measurements of diversity and persistence, as inherent attributes of the phenomenon, were elaborated by reviewing different theories. Diversity was examined by analyzing the degree of capability to absorb heterogeneous technologies, while persistence was investigated by analyzing the degree of continuity in the usage of cumulated technologies. With these two dimensions, an analytic framework was proposed to compare the differences and dynamic patterns of convergence competence by countries at the technology sector level. Three major technology sectors in the United States and South Korea, namely, information and communication technology, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, were explored to explicitly illustrate the differences in technology convergence competence. The results show that although Korea has narrowed the differences of capabilities for technology convergence compared to the US, Korea not only has to continuously pursue the improvement of specialization for all three sectors, but also has to encourage the exploitation of different technology fields. The suggested framework and indicators allow for monitoring of the dynamic patterns of a technology sector and identifying the sources of the gaps. Thus, the framework and indicators are able to ensure the purpose of government innovation policy and to provide strategic directions for redistributing the proper combination of sources to accomplish technology convergence.

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction between nitrogen vibrational-translational relaxation with different chemistry models in a hypersonic shock is studied, and the nitrogen monoxide formation reaction is studied using the total collision energy chemistry model and reaction cross sections obtained from quasi-classical trajectory simulations.
Abstract: The interaction between nitrogen vibrational-translational relaxation with different chemistry models in a hypersonic shock is studied. The vibrational-translational transition models considered include the Larsen–Borgnakke, Schwartz-Slawsky-Herzfeld, and forced harmonic oscillator models; and the nitrogen monoxide formation reaction was studied using the total collision energy chemistry model and reaction cross sections obtained from quasi-classical trajectory simulations. Using direct simulation Monte Carlo solutions that incorporate these models, improved nitrogen monoxide spectral radiation modeling was performed by employing quenching rates from recent experiments. Comparisons of electronic state populations and the corresponding radiative spectra for the different vibrational-translational and chemistry models are presented, and it is shown that the vibronic spectral structure of the nitrogen monoxide radiation could provide a way to test the fidelity of the internal energy transfer and chemistry mo...

01 Oct 2016TL;DR: This paper proposes an adaptive solution to monitor the actual load of a SDN controller for efficient utilization in a logically centralized SDN architecture and proposes a load monitoring solution which is combination of ONOS based collection manager and collectd based “onos write” plugin/module that act as an agent on SDN controllers.
Abstract: The recent emerging concept in the networking world is known as SDN (Software-Defined Network). SDN architecture introduced the new methods of network management and configuration. It makes underlying networking devices as simply just packet forwarding units and leaving the control logic on centralized software program to dictate the entire network behavior. In logically centralized SDN architecture the switches are statically assigned to controllers regardless of actual load of individual controllers. One of the key concern of network operators is to efficiently monitor the actual load of individual controllers in a logically centralized SDN environment. In this paper, we propose an adaptive solution to monitor the actual load of a SDN controller for efficient utilization in a logically centralized SDN architecture. We proposed a load monitoring solution which is combination of ONOS (Open Network Operating System) based collection manager and collectd based “onos write” plugin/module that act as an agent on SDN controllers. Our proposed solution helps to overcome the under-utilization and over-utilization of a controller implemented in logically centralized SDN environment. The results show that our proposed monitoring system gives a comprehensive statistical view of individual controller's load.
