TL;DR: A survey-based research study identifies significant issues faced by project managers in managing geographically distributed clients during the execution of a software project and investigates the issues that could have a significant contribution toward overall cost reduction.
Abstract: With a growing demand for software systems and increase in their complexity, software development and maintenance is no longer the preserve of individual designers and programmers. A thorough invol...

01 Jan 2010TL;DR: This chapter presents a scheme called MEDTOC (Medical Data Transmission Over Cellular Network) for transferring in-ambulance multiple patients’ data to the hospital by UMTS, and presents results of the application of data reduction algorithm over CAN packets and feasibility studies in transfer of data over UMTS.
Abstract: Patients in critical condition need Physician’s supervision while they are in transit to the hospital. If the ambulance is linked to the emergency room, the physician can monitor patient’s vital signs and issue instructions to the paramedics for stabilizing the patient. When a disaster strikes, scores of people are transferred to the hospital in ambulances. During an emergency situation, the number of patients in critical condition reaches overwhelming proportions. In this chapter, we discuss the state of the art in transferring emergency medical data from the disaster site or ambulance to the hospital and outline some case studies. We present a scheme called MEDTOC (Medical Data Transmission Over Cellular Network) for transferring in-ambulance multiple patients’ data to the hospital by UMTS. This system enables the transfer of vital signs to the hospital in reduced and packed format using limited bandwidth wireless network. Medical data can be transmitted over 3G cellular network using various modes and quality of service parameters available in UMTS. This could help the physicians in monitoring several patients who are either in transit or at a triage unit on a disaster site. Results of the application of data reduction algorithm over CAN packets and feasibility studies in transfer of data over UMTS are presented and discussed. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-60566-030-1.ch011

28 Jul 2014TL;DR: iSDF is presented, a new SDN-enabled framework that provides ISPs a domain-specific API for network function virtualization by leveraging a programmable middlebox built from commodity home-routers and includes an application server to disseminate, configure, and update ISP services.
Abstract: With only access billing no longer ensuring profits, an ISP's growth now relies on rolling out new and differentiated services. However, ISPs currently do not have a well-defined architecture for rapid, cost-effective, and scalable dissemination of new services. We present iSDF, a new SDN-enabled framework that can meet an ISP's service delivery constraints concerning cost, scalability, deployment flexibility, and operational ease. We show that meeting these constraints necessitates an SDN philosophy for a centralized management plane, a decoupled (from data) control plane, and a programmable data plane at customer premises. We present an ISP service delivery framework (iSDF) that provides ISPs a domain-specific API for network function virtualization by leveraging a programmable middlebox built from commodity home-routers. It also includes an application server to disseminate, configure, and update ISP services. We develop and report results for three diverse ISP applications that demonstrate the practicality and flexibility of iSDF, namely distributed VPN (control plane decisions), pay-per-site (rapid deployment), and BitTorrent blocking (data plane processing).

TL;DR: In this paper, generalized Suzuki type F-contraction fuzzy mappings and the existence of fixed fuzzy points for such mappings in the setup of complete ordered metric spaces are proved.
Abstract: Abstract The aim of this paper is to introduce generalized Suzuki type F-contraction fuzzy mappings and to prove the existence of fixed fuzzy points for such mappings in the setup of complete ordered metric spaces. An example is provided to show the validity of our results, followed by couple of remarks about the comparison of obtained results with the existing results in the literature. An application of our result to the domain of words is also presented.
