TL;DR: Boundary conditions in the path-integral formulation are discussed and the meanings of the effective potential and its convex property are clarified and the consistent interpretation is obtained.
Abstract: There is some confusion about what the effective potential is. To remove this confusion, boundary conditions in the path-integral formulation are discussed. For a system with several phases, there are several kinds of physically acceptable boundary conditions. The choice of condition determines the phase. Therefore without specifying the phase we cannot discuss the generating functionals. By taking this fact into account, the meanings of the effective potential and its convex property are clarified. The confusion is removed and the consistent interpretation is obtained.

TL;DR: In this paper, the velocities of 10 MHz-longitudinal and 15 MHz-transverse waves have been measured by a pulse-echo-overlap method from the transition temperature (157 K) to 500 K in a polycrystal of β-phase Ag 3 SI.
Abstract: The velocities of 10 MHz-longitudinal and 15 MHz-transverse waves have been measured by a pulse-echo-overlap method from the transition temperature (157 K) to 500 K in a polycrystal of β-phase Ag 3 SI. The attenuation measurements of longitudinal waves have also been done at 10, 30 and 50 MHz over the temperature range 157 K–300 K. The results are compared with a theory taking into account the coupling between the pseudospin fluctuations and the acoustic phonons. The activation energy of 0.15 eV and the attempt frequency of 1.8×10 12 Hz are obtained for the hopping of mobile silver ions.

TL;DR: A novel method to prepare PVA/DNA nanoparticles encapsulating nanoscaled hydroxyapatites (HAps) prepared by high hydrostatic pressurization, which is designed to facilitate endosomal escape induced by dissolving HAps in an endosome is described, and the potential use of HAps as an enhancer of the transfection efficiency of Pva/ DNA nanoparticles without significant cytotoxicity is shown.
Abstract: Our previous research showed that poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanoparticles incorporating DNA with hydrogen bonds obtained by high hydrostatic pressurization are able to deliver DNA without any significant cytotoxicity. To enhance transfection efficiency of PVA/DNA nanoparticles, we describe a novel method to prepare PVA/DNA nanoparticles encapsulating nanoscaled hydroxyapatites (HAps) prepared by high hydrostatic pressurization (980 MPa), which is designed to facilitate endosomal escape induced by dissolving HAps in an endosome. Scanning electron microscopic observation and dynamic light scattering measurement revealed that HAps were significantly encapsulated in PVA/HAp/DNA nanoparticles. The cytotoxicity, cellular uptake, and transgene expression of PVA/HAp/DNA nanoparticles were investigated using COS-7 cells. It was found that, in contrast to PVA/DNA nanoparticles, their internalization and transgene expression increased without cytotoxicity occurring. Furthermore, a similar level of transgene expression between plasmid DNA and PVA/HAp/DNA nanoparticles was achieved using in vivo hydrodynamic injection. Our results show a novel method of preparing PVA/DNA nanoparticles encapsulating HAp nano-crystals by using high hydrostatic pressure technology and the potential use of HAps as an enhancer of the transfection efficiency of PVA/DNA nanoparticles without significant cytotoxicity.

23 Apr 2019TL;DR: Using the commutative Backlund transformation, this article constructed the KdV static elliptic N-soliton solution, which means that they have obtained infinitely many solutions for the -function type differential equation.
Abstract: Regarding N-soliton solutions, the trigonometric type, the hyperbolic type, and the exponential type solutions have been well studied. While for the elliptic type solution, we know only the one-soliton solution so far. Using the commutative Backlund transformation, we have succeeded in constructing the KdV static elliptic N-soliton solution, which means that we have obtained infinitely many solutions for the -function type differential equation.

TL;DR: Combining the heats of dilution of the polyγ-benzyl-L-glutamate/ dichloroacetic acid/chloroform solution with the corresponding heats of mixing of the two solvents, the integrated heat of the coil/helix transition of poly-γ-bensyl-l-Glutamate in the solution was estimated to be about 1 kcal/unit mole as discussed by the authors.
