TL;DR: In this article, a single crystal X-ray diffraction of a Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis(4-methoxy-salicylaldehyde)azine (H2SALNN) was shown to exhibit poor fluorescence in the excited state, due to rotational isomerization along the azomethine group.
Abstract: The structurally characterized (through single crystal X-ray diffraction) Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis(4-methoxy-salicylaldehyde)azine (H2SALNN) exhibits poor fluorescence in the excited state, due to rotational (cis/trans) isomerization along the azomethine group However, in the presence of Cr3+ and Al3+ the isomerization is blocked due to coordination with the metal ions exhibiting turn-on fluorescence The fluorescence enhancement for Al3+ and Cr3+ at two distinct wavelengths shows much difference of the wavelengths (ΔI = 63 nm) Thus, the selective turn-on fluorescence behaviour of H2SALNN for Cr3+ and Al3+ is based on the blocking effect of CN isomerization and chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) The coordination modes of the complexes were investigated by spectroscopic and computational studies

TL;DR: In this paper, an emergent gravity metric incorporating a Born-Infeld type lagrangian is mapped into a metric whose structure is similar to that of a blackhole of large mass $M$ that has swallowed a global monopole.
Abstract: An emergent gravity metric incorporating $k-$essence scalar fields $\phi$ having a Born-Infeld type lagrangian is mapped into a metric whose structure is similar to that of a blackhole of large mass $M$ that has swallowed a global monopole. However, here the field is not that of a monopole but rather that of a $k-$essence scalar field. If $\phi_{emergent}$ be solutions of the emergent gravity equations of motion under cosmological boundary conditions at $\infty$, then for $r\rightarrow\infty$ the rescaled field $\frac {\phi_{emergent}}{2GM-1}$ has exact correspondence with $\phi$ with $\phi(r,t)=\phi_{1}(r)+\phi_{2}(t)$. The Hawking temperature of this metric is $T_{\mathrm emergent}= \frac{\hbar c^{3}}{8\pi GM k_{\mathrm B}}(1-K)^{2}\equiv \frac{\hbar}{8\pi GM k_{\mathrm B}}(1-K)^{2}$, taking the speed of light $c=1$. Here $K=\dot\phi_{2}^{2}$ is the kinetic energy of the $k-$essence field $\phi$ and $K$ is always less than unity, $k_{\mathrm B}$ is the Boltzmann constant. This is phenomenologically interesting in the context of Belgiorno {\it et al's} gravitational analogue experiment.

TL;DR: This study revealed that application of T4 vase solution helps to maintain spikes fresh and dry weight, reduce the vascular blockage, improve the antioxidative defense, and stabilize the membrane integrity that leads to delay senescence.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of green synthesized silver nanoparticles on post-harvest physiology of cut flower in relation to improvement of its vase life as well as keeping quality of the flowers taking gladiolus cut spikes as a model. The synthesized Piper betle mediated silver nanoparticles (PbSNPs) were characterized by using UV-visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy studies. It was revealed that PbSNPs ranges from 30 to 50 nm in diameter and spherical in shape. The experiments were conducted to study the effect of PbSNPs on post-harvest physiology, vascular blockage, prolonging vase life, and keeping the quality of cut spike of gladiolus. The treatment consisted of six vase solutions, viz. distilled water (control), 4% sucrose (T1), 4% sucrose + 100 ppm 5-SSA (T2), 4% sucrose + 2 ppm PbSNPs (T3), 4% sucrose + 4 ppm PbSNPs (T4), and 4% sucrose + 6 ppm PbSNPs (T5). Experimental outcomes depicted that T4 vase solution gives the best results in all the aspects statistically compared to its positive control (T2). The results also show PbSNPs in vase solution might have played a significant role for scavenging the reactive oxygen species by inducing antioxidant enzyme system at the time of senescence, leading to a decrease in lipid peroxidation and increase in the membrane stability. This study revealed that application of T4 vase solution helps to maintain spikes fresh and dry weight, reduce the vascular blockage, improve the antioxidative defense, and stabilize the membrane integrity that leads to delay senescence.
