TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the possibility of using granite powder as replacement of sand and partial replacement of cement with fly ash, silica fume, slag and superplasticiser in concrete.
Abstract: This paper examines the possibility of using granite powder as replacement of sand and partial replacement of cement with fly ash, silica fume, slag and superplasticiser in concrete. The percentage of granite powder added by weight was 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 as a replacement of sand used in concrete and cement was replaced with 7.5% silica fume, 10% fly ash, 10% slag and 1% superplasticiser. The effects of water ponding temperatures at 26°C and 38°C with 0.4 water-to-binder (w/b) ratios on mechanical properties, plastic and drying shrinkage strain of the concrete were studied and compared with natural fine aggregate concrete. The test results obtained indicate that granite powder of marginal quantity as partial sand replacement has beneficial effect on the mechanical properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, modulus of elasticity. Furthermore, the test results indicated that the values of both plastic and drying shrinkage of concrete in the granite powder concrete specimens were nominal than those of ordinary concrete specimens.

TL;DR: The high electrocatalytic performance and remarkable durability showed the β-Ni2P2O7/Pt material to be a promising cost-effective electrocatalyst for hydrogen production.
Abstract: Robust electrocatalysts toward the resourceful and sustainable generation of hydrogen by splitting of water via electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) are a prerequisite to realize high-efficiency energy research. Highly electroactive catalysts for hydrogen production with ultralow loading of platinum (Pt) have been under exhaustive exploration to make them cutting-edge and cost-effectively reasonable for water splitting. Herein, we report the synthesis of hierarchically structured nickel pyrophosphate (β-Ni2P2O7) by a precipitation method and nickel phosphate (Ni3(PO4)2) by two different synthetic routes, namely, simple cost-effective precipitation and solution combustion processes. Thereafter, Pt-decorated nickel pyrophosphate and nickel phosphate (β-Ni2P2O7/Pt and Ni3(PO4)2/Pt) were prepared by using potassium hexachloroplatinate and ascorbic acid. The fabricated novel nickel pyrophosphate and nickel phosphate/Pt materials were utilized as potential and affordable electrocatalysts for HER b...

TL;DR: In this article, the suitability of water of forty-four fixed bore wells of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, India was assessed for 9-year period.
Abstract: The grade of irrigation water available to irrigators has a significant impact on crops as well as yields. Therefore, it is a need to better understand irrigation water quality. The present study mainly focuses on the assessment of the suitability of water of forty-four fixed bore wells of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, India. The groundwater sample datasets of post-monsoon (2005–2013) and pre-monsoon (2006–2013) season were collected for 9 years. Water quality indices, namely sodium adsorption ratio, exchangeable sodium percent (SSP or %Na), residual sodium carbonate (RSC or RA), Kelly’s ratio, permeability index, chloroalkaline indices (CAI1 and CAI2), potential salinity (PS), magnesium hazard, total dissolved solids and total hardness, have been calculated for separate bore wells. The r1 and r2 indices show that groundwater of the study area is Na+–SO42− and deep meteoric percolation type. Majority of the wells are fall under moderate to unsuitable category of water for irrigation purposes. Further, wells water has also been classified on the base of meteoric genesis index.

TL;DR: In this article, a co-precipitation method was used to synthesize Ni3V2O8@GO composite for supercapacitor applications, which has a small stone-like particle morphology.
Abstract: In the present investigation, we have synthesized Ni3V2O8@GO composite by co-precipitation method and designed as a new anode material for supercapacitor applications. The phase formation and surface morphology of the Ni3V2O8 and Ni3V2O8@GO composite were confirmed by XRD and FE-SEM measurements, respectively. It was observed that the synthesized Ni3V2O8@GO composite was found to have a small stone-like particle morphology. The electrochemical behavior of Ni3V2O8@GO composite as an electrode material for supercapacitor application was examined by electrochemical techniques. The obtained results showed that the Ni3V2O8@GO composite electrode exhibits maximum specific capacitance value 547 Fg−1 at a scan rate of 5 mVs−1 which was much superior than that of pure Ni3V2O8 (118 Fg−1). The improved electrochemical behavior of the Ni3V2O8@GO composite may be due to its well crystalline nature and also offers more active sites for Faradic reactions, good conductivity, and rapid diffusion of the electrolyte ions. Furthermore, the fabricated Ni3V2O8@GO composite electrode possessed an outstanding cyclic stability and nearly 95% of original specific capacitance value was sustained after 1500 charge-discharge cycles at 5 Ag−1. This indicates that shaped the spherical Ni3V2O8@GO composite possessed excellent electrochemical property that favors it as an auspicious electrode candidates for supercapacitor applications.
