TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comprehensive study of why Building Information Modelling (BIM) should be an integral part of the Architectural design education at the graduate level.
Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive study of why Building Information Modelling (BIM) should be an integral part of the Architectural design education at the graduate level The aim was to study the feasibility in implementing the BIM as a process, technology and learning tool The study was focused on the advantages of using BIM to better understand the relationship between design, engineering, and documentation at graduate architecture education level and how it can help students learn and understand the industry methods even before stepping out of school The results indicate that students found the BIM process and tools to be more intuitive and help them visualize their design concepts better while understanding the technical aspects of construction at the same time The paper addressed the core issues that must be considered before implementing BIM in the graduate school curriculum and provides a detailed description of a framework for gradual integration of the same

TL;DR: In this article, the authors tried to highlight the impacts of spatial development and planning of the Bhopal city region, in light of these ten principles considering its functionality, and tried to understand how the evolution in the planning of BhopAL has impacted the spatial and sectoral development of the region and its achievement of smartness.
Abstract: City can be accurately measured by its impact as a node of various land use units which diffuses the social, political and economic effects in the region. City region reflects association of multiple municipalities’ and scales of government in which responsibility for urban and regional development is distributed formally as well as informally. Smart cities are dominating the current paradigm of planning with a focus on the use of information and communication technology for the development of the society. In India, it is exemplified under the ‘Smart Cities Mission’ where the emphasis is laid on the promotion of core infrastructure and application of information and communication technology to improve the quality of life in urban areas. Modern development concept of intelligent urbanism as defined by Christopher Benninger through 10 axioms or principles guides the city planning which would help the regions to achieve the results of India’s smart cities mission. The intelligent urban region strives to create a balance between economic, environment and social development- three pillars of sustainability. The concept composed of ten principles integrates the planning and management discourse in the preparation of a spatial plan for the region. The paper tries to highlight the impacts of spatial development and planning of the Bhopal city region, in light of these ten principles considering its functionality. The paper tries to understand how the evolution in the planning of Bhopal has impacted the spatial and sectoral development of the region and its achievement of ‘smartness’.

TL;DR: In this paper, the progress of the development of passenger railways in India from being a privatized model until 1951 and nationalized thereafter until recent developments and rising needs to privatize the system is discussed.
Abstract: The chapter addresses the progress of the development of passenger railways in India from being a privatized model until 1951 and nationalized thereafter until recent developments and rising needs to privatize the system. Drawing experiences from privatized railway systems from across the globe, the chapter concludes that, taking into consideration the social stresses that the industry bears, the potential productive efficiency gains ensuing to Indian Railways from privatization shall be prevailed over by losses incurred due to allocative efficiency. Thus, any proposal to privatize Indian Railways must carefully look into its effects on productive efficiency along with the government’s objectives related to equity-allocation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the functioning of the real estate market of unauthorized colonies in East Delhi and looked at the impacts and influences it has on them, highlighting the uniqueness of the market and how it contributes to the already deteriorating situation of the colonies which is an issue to be resolved rather than a problem to be solved.
Abstract: Development of unauthorized colonies is emerging as a big issue in many large cities. In Delhi it caters to nearly 18 % of its population and acts as a major source of housing. Guru Ram Dass Nagar in East Delhi is one of the oldest unauthorized colonies in Delhi. Being unauthorized and due to many other factors, the residents are unable to avail loans from financial institutions which lead to the growth of builder floors in which a developer collaborates with the property owner to redevelop the property. These activities magnify the existing problems like the high population density and the load on the existing infrastructure. The East Delhi zone is also highly vulnerable to natural hazards. This paper explores the functioning of the real estate market of unauthorized colonies in East Delhi and looks at the impacts and influences it has on them. The study highlights the uniqueness of the market and how it contributes to the already deteriorating situation of the colonies which is an issue to be resolved rather than a problem to be solved.
