Sítio paleobotânico: percepção e propostas socioeducativas de conservação da “pedra madeira” de brejo de são benedito/pi

Abstract: Paleobotanical sites are evidences that allow to understand the Earth climatic and evolutionary history in ancient times. In this context, the objective of this study was to characterize the socioeconomic profile of the Brejo of Sao Benedito community, located in the city of Altos/PI, as well as its relationship with the Paleobotanical Site of the respective municipality, in order to propose socio-educational measures on the environment. The survey was conducted with 30 participants from the mentioned locality. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and participant observation, which was analyzed through a qualitative and quantitative approach. Most of the interviewees consist of women, adults, with low education, residing for more than 30 years in the locality, rural workers and married. The data showed that there is an expressive concern about the fossil forest conservation, although an environmental and heritage education that values the individual and collective aspects is necessary. Thus, the practice of a more active citizenship can promote major changes in the social and environmental context, which allows to broaden the meanings and seek solutions in joint terms, based on dialogues amomg residents, institutions and the public power.

Gender differences in the elderly

Abstract: Qualitative study that aimed at investigating present and decisive gender subjects of health and elder people's life quality. The subjects were 20 (twenty) seniors of the Programa Terceira Idade em Acao-PTIA. The semi-structured interview was used as data collection technique. From the speeches, information that answered the investigation inquietudes emerged and they made possible the formulation of three analysis categories. In the first, it stood out the low self-esteem lived by the men when they age, otherwise in the second one it was evidenced the autonomy and the freedom conquered by the senior women, and in the third category the learning happened among the old ladies who participated of PTIA. Concluding that there is influence of the gender subjects in health and life quality in aging.

Qualidade de mudas de mamão produzidas em substrato com esterco caprino e doses de superfosfato simples

Abstract: A obtencao de produtividade e qualidade de frutos de mamao requer a utilizacao de mudas bem formadas, que e influenciada pelo substrato e manejo de adubacao. Nesse sentido, o objetivou-se avaliar a quantidade de esterco caprino e superfosfato simples na formacao de mudas de mamoeiro. O experimento foi conduzido em viveiro com sombrite (50%), na Universidade Estadual do Piaui (UESPI), Campus de Corrente. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados, arranjados em esquema fatorial 3 x 4 (porcentagem de esterco caprino x doses de superfosfato simples) com quatro repeticoes. O primeiro fator foi formado por: 0%, 20% e 40% de esterco caprino, enquanto o segundo fator foi constituido pelas doses: 0,0; 1,5; 3,0 e 4,5 Kg m -3 de superfosfato simples. As variaveis avaliadas foram: altura de planta, comprimento de raiz, massa seca da parte aerea e raiz, massa seca total e indice de qualidade de Dickson. A mistura de solo e esterco caprino como alternativa de composto orgânico acrescentado de superfosfato simples proporciona a obtencao de mudas com melhor padrao de qualidade e producao, sendo a proporcao de 40% de esterco caprino juntamente com a dose de 1,9 Kg m -3 de superfosfato simples a mais indicada.

Development and characterization of composites based on polyaniline and modified microcrystalline cellulose with anhydride maleic as platforms for electrochemical trials

Abstract: In this study, a new material, i.e., composite PANI(MAC) based on polyaniline (PANI) and microcrystalline cellulose modified with maleic anhydride (MAC), was generated in the form of thin films immobilized on indium tin oxide (ITO) slides using a layer-by-layer self-assembly technique. For comparison, thin films of PANI in the absence of MAC were also prepared under the same conditions as those for PANI(MAC). Characterization of PANI(MAC) by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy showed that MAC acts as an organic acid that promotes secondary doping of PANI, as evidenced by the appearance of an absorption broadband at 900 nm. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements revealed this same effect: the current density values obtained for the PANI(MAC) film were higher than those obtained for PANI in the absence of MAC. Studies on the behavior of the PANI and PANI(MAC) films at different pH values revealed that the PANI(MAC) films required a higher pH to generate electroactivity, which was not required for the reference films. Stability testing of the PANI(MAC) films revealed that their electrochemical profiles did not change after 3 months; this indicates that the presence of cellulose in the film did not accelerate degradation of the polyaniline.

Validação de instrumento de coleta de dados de enfermagem para clientes adultos hospitalizados

Abstract: Estudo realizado com o objetivo de validar o instrumento de coleta de dados utilizado em servico de internacao para adultos, verificando se os itens permitem coletar dados que possibilitem o desenvolvimento das fases da SAE, melhorar a operacionalizacao e construir roteiro instrucional. O campo de pesquisa foi a Clinica Medica do Hospital Universitario Lauro Wanderley, aonde a coleta de dados vem sendo realizada desde 1984. Utilizou-se para validacao a tecnica de entrevista com grupo focal. A amostra foi formada por treze enfermeiras e as atividades foram realizadas de setembro a dezembro de 2002. O debate permitiu reestruturacao do instrumento, de acordo com consenso obtido, adaptando-o de forma mais objetiva para uso na clinica, de acordo com caracteristicas da clientela.
