TL;DR: It is found that to solve misunderstandings that may occur due to the cultural diversity and language the authors must encourage frequent communication, and this frequent communication increases the communication effectiveness and develops the cohesion among the distributed teams.
Abstract: The lack of risk management, communication and understanding of the requirements are actually the main factors related to the low rate of success in software development, more specifically in distributed projects given the characteristics of this type of development. Considering distributed software projects, the main goal of this paper is to show communication inherent risks empirically identified in such type of project, and the strategies and recommendations adopted to mitigate them. For example, we found that to solve misunderstandings that may occur due to the cultural diversity and language we must encourage frequent communication. This frequent communication does not only increases the communication effectiveness, but also develops the cohesion among the distributed teams, resulting in an improvement of the informal communication and establishment of the confidence among members of the distributed team. These findings were obtained from an exploratory empirical qualitative research that collected interview data from project leaders and managers from several software projects from distinct companies. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the influence of communication process in DSD. It also contributes to the industrial practice so that they can use the results to improve the communication management, minimizing potential problems.

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the literature published in regards to biosecurity aspects of the use of laboratory coats by health professionals. This is a narrative review of the literature published from 1991 to 2008. MEDLINE, LILACS, and SciELO were the databases used. Twenty-two articles were selected and were grouped for analysis with emphasis given to: cross infections caused by lab coats; contaminated lab coats; bacterial flora on health professionals' lab coats. The lab coat was found to be a source of contamination and to be equipment for individual protection in infectious disease. Therefore educational campaigns are necessary in order to orientate health professionals about the use of lab coats. DESCRIPTORS: Infection. Biosecurity. Prevention.

TL;DR: The results indicated that loss of favorable epistatic interactions contributed to high IPP average in the 5/8 group, and a trend of increasing IDP as the proportion of Holstein genes increased.
Abstract: Reproduction efficiency of Holstein x Gir crossbred animals in Brazilian dairy farms were evaluated using data provided by the Brazilian Association of Girolando. A total of 2,600 records of age at first calving (IPP) and 3,763 records of calving intervals (IDP) were analyzed using the SAS® GLM procedure. Estimates of genetics effects: additive difference between Holstein and Gir breeds, dominance and additive x additive epistatic effects were obtained by regression models including genetic groups to model the performance of crossbred groups. The genetic group 1/2 showed better performance: lower averages for IPP and IDP than the other groups. It was observed a trend of increasing IDP as the proportion of Holstein genes increased. The dominance effect influenced significantly both traits, while the additive x additive epistatic effects significantly influenced only IPP. The results indicated that loss of favorable epistatic interactions contributed to high IPP average in the 5/8 group.
