Journal ArticleDOI

Dissociable learning-dependent changes in REM and non-REM sleep in declarative and procedural memory systems.

TL;DR: These findings support the hypothesis that brain plasticity during sleep does not involve a unitary process; that is, different types of learning have unique sleep-related memory consolidation mechanisms that act in dissociable brain regions at different times throughout the night.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Individually Adjustable Oral Appliance vs Continuous Positive Airway Pressure in Mild-to-Moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

TL;DR: Even in patients with mild-to-moderate OSAS, CPAP is the more effective long-term treatment modality, and the better compliance seen with the ISAD may be advantageous.
Journal ArticleDOI

Opioids, sleep architecture and sleep-disordered breathing.

TL;DR: Current knowledge regarding the effects of mu-opioids on sleep and respiration during sleep is reviewed and research pathways to advance knowledge are suggested and to explore the possible responsible mechanisms related to these effects are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Validación de la versión española del test de somnolencia Epworth en pacientes con síndrome de apnea de sueño

TL;DR: The Spanish version of the Epworth Sleepiness Scale is equivalent to the original, is reproducible in patients with SAS, sensitive to post-treatment changes and seems to discriminate level of severity, showing correlation with polysomnograph variables.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between difficult tracheal intubation and obstructive sleep apnoea

TL;DR: It is concluded that difficult intubation and OSA are related significantly and share anatomical features which act to reduce the skeletal confines of the tongue.
