Abstract
The purpose of object matching is to decide the similarity between two objects. This paper introduces 24 possible distance measures based on the Hausdorff distance between two point sets. These measures can be used to match two sets of edge points extracted from any two objects. Based on experiments on synthetic images containing various levels of noise, the authors determined that one of these distance measures, called the modified Hausdorff distance (MHD) has the best performance for object matching. The advantages of MHD ever other distances are also demonstrated on several edge snaps of objects extracted from real images.

Dorsal hand vein recognition via hierarchical combination of texture and shape clues

TL;DR: A novel shape representation method is proposed to describe the geometry structure of the venous network, by integrating both local and holistic analyses, and the results achieved are superior to the state of the art ones so far reported in the literature, which demonstrates its effectiveness.

An Online Learned Elementary Grouping Model for Multi-target Tracking

TL;DR: An online approach to learn possible elementary groups (groups that contain only two targets) for inferring high level context that can be used to improve multi-target tracking in a data-association based framework is introduced.

I-Planner: Intention-aware motion planning using learning-based human motion prediction:

TL;DR: A motion planning algorithm to compute collision-free and smooth trajectories for high-degree-of-freedom (high-DOF) robots interacting with humans in a shared workspace and the benefits of the intention-aware planner in terms of computing safe trajectories in such uncertain environments are demonstrated.

Comparing images using the Hausdorff distance

TL;DR: Efficient algorithms for computing the Hausdorff distance between all possible relative positions of a binary image and a model are presented and it is shown that the method extends naturally to the problem of comparing a portion of a model against an image.
