Preventive effects of Goji berry on dextran-sulfate-sodium-induced colitis in mice.

TL;DR: Dietary Goji supplementation confers protective effects against DSS-induced colitis, which is associated with decreased neutrophil infiltration and suppressed inflammation, and is likely beneficial to inflammatory bowel disease patients as a complementary therapeutic strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of wolfberry infusion.

TL;DR: The results of this study suggest the length of time of making a wolfberry infusion in actual real life practice is too short and different dietary habits associated with the intake ofwolfberry infusion might provide the same bioactive nutrients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fingerprinting profile of polysaccharides from Lycium barbarum using multiplex approaches and chemometrics.

TL;DR: Techniques including ultraviolet-visible spectra, high performance size-exclusion chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and pre-column derivatization high-performance liquid chromatography were used in the fingerprinting analysis of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBPs) from different locations and varieties and indicated that sixteen batches of LBPs had good consistency.

Enhancing growth and non-specific immunity of grass carp and Nile tilapia by incorporating Chinese herbs (Astragalus membranaceus and Lycium barbarum) into food waste based pellets.

TL;DR: Waste based feed pellets incorporated with Chinese medicinal herb extracts have the ability to enhance growth and immunity of fish and the use of Chinese medicinal herbs in aquaculture should be encouraged, in order to replace certain antibiotics known to impose environmental and health effects through the discharge of Aquaculture effluents.
