TLDR
In this article, the effects of BSF as a fishmeal alternative on the gut microbiota of aquatic animals using high throughput sequencing (HTS) were investigated. But, due to the inconsistency in the success of the BSF inclusions, a systematic meta-analysis approach was imperative to conclude the usefulness of BSI inclusion in aquafeed, and the results showed that the augmentation of Actinobacteria and Firmicutes in the fish gut was mainly due to higher abundance of Bacillus and Lactobacillus at genus level.

Differential Modulation of the European Sea Bass Gut Microbiota by Distinct Insect Meals

TL;DR: This study reveals an HEM-driven increase in chitin-degrading taxa and associated chitinolytic activity, uncovering potential benefits of adopting exuviae-supplemented diets, a waste product of insect rearing, as a functional ingredient.

Effects of Clostridium autoethanogenum protein inclusion levels and processing parameters on the physical properties of low-starch extruded floating feed

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the effects of graded CAP substitution levels (replacing 0, 25, 50, 75% and 100% of fishmeal in the diet), preconditioning moisture content (28% and 32%) and screw speed (200 rpm and 300 rpm) on the physical qualities of low-starch extruded floating feed.

Potential of shrimp waste meal and insect exuviae as sustainable sources of chitin for fish feeds

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of two waste products rich in chitin, i.e., shrimp head meal (SHM), and insect pupal exuviae on the gut microbiota of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was evaluated through a 91-day feeding trial.
Journal ArticleDOI

Whole genome analysis of host-associated lactobacillus salivarius and the effects on hepatic antioxidant enzymes and gut microorganisms of Sinocyclocheilus grahami

TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that L. salivarius S01 is a promising potential probiotic candidate that provides multiple benefits for the microbiome of S. grahami.
