This paper details a new transfer function approach in passive harmonic filter design for industrial and commercial power system applications. Filter placement along with six common filter configurations are presented. Harmonic impedance, voltage division and current division transfer functions are derived and used in a practical filter design procedure which incorporates IEEE-519 distortion limits directly into the design and component specification process. A simple four step filter design procedure is outlined and used in a variable speed motor drive pumping plant application.read more

Passive filters-potentialities and limitations
TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss two types of filters: band pass filters and damped filters, and show that in most distribution systems it is practical and economical to implement passive filter designs, provided the required safeguards are considered.

An LLCL Power Filter for Single-Phase Grid-Tied Inverter
TL;DR: The LLCL filter as mentioned in this paper inserts a small inductor in the branch loop of the capacitor in the traditional LCL filter to compose a series resonant circuit at the switching frequency, which attenuates the switching-frequency current ripple components much better than an LCL filtering.

Passive Filter Design for Three-Phase Inverter Interfacing in Distributed Generation
TL;DR: In this paper, a design method for the output LC filter in grid coupled applications in distributed generation systems is presented, according to the harmonics standards that determine the level of current harmonics injected into the grid network.
