TLDR
The authors investigate the achievable error probabilities over the correlated Rician channel, employing coherent detection and ideal side information on the realization of the fading processes at the receiver to enhance the insight to the effect of the basic parameters governing the performance.Citations

Fading channels: information-theoretic and communications aspects
TL;DR: This paper describes the statistical models of fading channels which are frequently used in the analysis and design of communication systems, and focuses on the information theory of fading channel, by emphasizing capacity as the most important performance measure.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple and general parameterization quantifying performance in fading channels
TL;DR: The proposed analysis offers a simple and unifying approach to evaluating the performance of uncoded and (possibly space-time) coded transmissions over fading channels, and the method applies to almost all digital modulation schemes, including M-ary phaseshift keying, quadrature amplitude modulation, and frequency-shift keying with coherent or noncoherent detection.

Design and analysis of turbo codes on Rayleigh fading channels
Eric K. Hall,Stephen G. Wilson +1 more
TL;DR: The performance and design of turbo codes using coherent BPSK signaling on the Rayleigh fading channel is considered and Turbo interleaver design criteria are developed and architectural modifications are proposed for improved performance.

Performance bounds for coded free-space optical communications through atmospheric turbulence channels
Xiaoming Zhu,Joseph M. Kahn +1 more
TL;DR: This work derives an approximate upper bound on the pairwise codeword-error probability for transmission through channels with correlated turbulence-induced fading for block codes, convolutional codes, and turbo codes for free-space optical communication through weak atmospheric turbulence channels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Error statistics in data transmission over fading channels
TL;DR: It is shown that a Markov approximation for the block error process is a good model for a broad range of parameters, and the relationship between the marginal error rate and the transition probability is largely insensitive to parameters such as block length, degree of forward error correction and modulation format.

Information theoretic considerations for cellular mobile radio
TL;DR: Some information-theoretic considerations used to determine upper bounds on the information rates that can be reliably transmitted over a two-ray propagation path mobile radio channel model, operating in a time division multiplex access (TDMA) regime, under given decoding delay constraints are presented.
