Exploring US mainstream teachers’ perspectives on use of the native language in instruction with English language learner students
TL;DR: This paper found that teachers generally supported L1 use in instruction, while they tended to show stronger support for its underlying theory than for its practical implementation, indicating a clear link between English as a second language specific university preparation and an increased support for the theory and practice of L1 using in instruction.

TL;DR: In this article, First Nations' perspectives, opinions and attitudes about the status of language and culture in schooling and their suggested strategies to revitalize and preserve First Nations cultures are discussed, and the issue involved is not merely one of cultural education of students but also of helping Euro-Canadian teachers to attain the necessary cultural tools for determining and putting into practice a socially and culturally oriented program.
