TLDR
It was found that ratings of the favorableness of offers to gamble under the influence of alcohol had the same structure under all conditions despite variation in level.Abstract:
Subjects gave ratings of the favorableness of offers to gamble under the influence of alcohol. In two experiments a large dose decreased the willingness to gamble. Willingness was enhanced with a smaller dose in one experiment. A model of decision making was fitted to the ratings. It was found that ratings had the same structure under all conditions despite variation in level.read more

Common genetic vulnerability for pathological gambling and alcohol dependence in men
Wendy S. Slutske,Seth A. Eisen,William R. True,Michael J. Lyons,Jack Goldberg,Ming T. Tsuang +5 more
TL;DR: Subclinical PG, or problem gambling, may be a milder form of PG, rather than an etiologically distinct syndrome, on the hypothesis that subclinical PG and DSM-III-R PG disorder have many, perhaps all, of the same risk factors and thus differ quantitatively rather than qualitatively.

Biphasic action of ethanol
TL;DR: Physiological, behavioral, and biochemical evidence demonstrating the excitatory and depressant effects of ethanol in man and experimental animals is reviewed and some implications and possible mechanisms for the biphasic actions of ethanol are discussed.

Alcohol and social behavior: I. The psychology of drunken excess.
TL;DR: For instance, this article found that alcohol impairment can make a social response more extreme or excessive when the response is pressured by both inhibiting and instigating cues, in that case, alcohol's damage to inhibitory processing allows instigating pressures more sway over the response, increasing its extremeness.

Development of the Addiction Research Center Inventory (ARCI): Selection of items that are sensitive to the effects of various drugs
TL;DR: Results indicate that the effectiveness of specially designed tests, whether in the form of complete sentences or adjective check lists, chiefly depends upon assessment of the “activitysedation” continuum and allied changes in motivation, alteration in mood, alterations in sensation and perception, and in reportable physiological processes.
