Analysis of moisture flow in porous materials using microfocus X-ray radiography

TLDR
In this paper, a calibration procedure is presented to optimise the resolution in moisture content by choosing an adequate sample thickness in relation to the energy of the X-ray source, and examples of two-dimensional liquid water uptake in homogeneous, heterogeneous, micro- and macro-fractured materials are presented.

Monitoring reinforcement corrosion and corrosion-induced cracking using non-destructive x-ray attenuation measurements

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of the x-ray attenuation method to monitor corrosion products as well as the formation and propagation of cracks in cementitious materials, reinforced mortar samples were tested under accelerated corrosion conditions.

Neutron imaging of water penetration into cracked steel reinforced concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied neutron radiography to study the process of water penetration into cracked steel reinforced concrete and the effectiveness of integral water repellent concrete to prevent ingress of water and salt solutions.

The mathematics of diffusion

John Crank
TL;DR: Though it incorporates much new material, this new edition preserves the general character of the book in providing a collection of solutions of the equations of diffusion and describing how these solutions may be obtained.

Beam hardening in x-ray reconstructive tomography

TL;DR: As a polychromatic X-ray beam passes through matter, low energy photons are preferentially absorbed, and the (logarithmic) attenuation is no longer a linear function of absorber thickness, which leads to various artifacts in reconstructive tomography.
