Analysis of the neutral glycan fractions of glycosyl-phosphatidylinositols by thin-layer chromatography.

TLDR
The utility of this method for the microsequencing of radiolabeled neutral glycans derived from two GPI glycolipids, using exoglycosidases and chemical treatments, is demonstrated, and is a simple and useful complement to the existing chromatographic techniques.

Journal ArticleDOI

Primary Structure of CD52

TL;DR: The data suggest that the alkali-labile hydroxyester-linked fatty acids of the GPI anchor are necessary for antibody binding.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lytic anti-α-galactosyl antibodies from patients with chronic Chagas' disease recognize novel O-linked oligosaccharides on mucin-like glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol-anchored glycoproteins of Trypanosoma cruzi

TL;DR: These novel T. cruzi O-linked oligosaccharides are highly immunogenic under the conditions of natural infection and are the targets for lytic Ch anti-Gal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural characterisation of two forms of procyclic acidic repetitive protein expressed by procyclic forms of Trypanosoma brucei.

TL;DR: Both forms of PARP were shown to contain indistinguishable glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) membrane anchors, where the conserved GPI core structure is substituted by heterogeneous sialylated branched polylactosamine-like structures that are predicted to form a dense surface glycocalyx above which the polyanionic -Glu-Pro- Pro-Thr- and -Glamorganic repeat domains are displayed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structures of the Glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol Anchors of Porcine and Human Renal Membrane Dipeptidase COMPREHENSIVE STRUCTURAL STUDIES ON THE PORCINE ANCHOR AND INTERSPECIES COMPARISON OF THE GLYCAN CORE STRUCTURES

TL;DR: The glycan core structures of the glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors on porcine and human renal membrane dipeptidase and the first interspecies comparison of mammalian GPI anchor structures on the same protein are determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

The glycoinositol phospholipids of Leishmania mexicana promastigotes : evidence for the presence of three distinct pathways of glycolipid biosynthesis

TL;DR: The data suggest that L. mexicana promastigotes contain three distinct pathways of GPI biosynthesis, including the most polar of these GIPLs, LPGp, has the properties expected of a biosynthetic precursor to the LPG.
