TLDR
In this paper, the effect of transverse thermal dispersion on natural convection from a vertical, heated plate in a porous medium is examined analytically, and the results show that due to the better mixing of the thermal dispersal effect, the heat transfer rate is greatly increased.

Analysis of Variants Within the Porous Media Transport Models

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of the Darcy number, inertia parameter, Reynolds number, porosity, particle diameter, and the fluid-to-solid conductivity ratio on the variances within each of the four areas are analyzed.

Convective and Radiative Heat Transfer in Porous Media

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe convective and radiative heat transfer in porous media, both with or without phase change, and show that for the flow field the boundary effect is confined within a thin momentum boundary layer.

Natural convection in metal foams with open cells

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined experimental and numerical study on natural convection in open-celled metal foams is presented, and the experimental results show that the non-equilibrium effect between solid foam skeleton and air is significant, accounting for up to 50% of the effective foam conductivity obtained at ambient pressure.

Metal Foam and Finned Metal Foam Heat Sinks for Electronics Cooling in Buoyancy-Induced Convection

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present experimental results on buoyancy-induced convection in aluminum metal foams of different pore densities and porosities and show that compared to a heated surface, the heat transfer coefficients in these heat sinks are five to six times higher.

Dispersion in cellular thermal convection in porous layers

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical and experimental study for the case of two-dimensional buoyancy-driven convection in saturated horizontal packed beds is reported for weak dispersion and the effect of dispersion on Nusselt number is stronger than that of inertia unless the Prandtl number of the porous medium is of order 0.01 or less.

Free convection about a vertical flat plate embedded in a porous medium with application to heat transfer from a dike

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis is made for steady free convection about a vertical flat plate embedded in a saturated porous medium at high Rayleigh numbers, where boundary layer thickness, local and overall surface heat flux, and local and average heat transfer coefficients are derived for an isothermal dike intruded in an aquifer.

TL;DR: The radial variation of void fraction within a packed bed of uniform spheres has been found to vary from unity at the wall to about 38% in the interior of large beds.
