TLDR
In this article, an anti-angiogenic factor and a polymeric carrier were used for embolization of blood vessels and eliminating biliary, urethral, esophageal, and tracheal/bronchial obstructions.
Abstract
The present invention provides compositions comprising an anti-angiogenic factor, and a polymeric carrier. Representative examples of anti-angiogenic factors include Anti-Invasive Factor, Retinoic acids and derivatives thereof, and paclitaxel. Also provided are methods for embolizing blood vessels, and eliminating biliary, urethral, esophageal, and tracheal/bronchial obstructions.

Coated implantable medical device

TL;DR: A coated implantable medical device as discussed by the authors includes a structure 12 adapted for introduction into the vascular system, esophagus, trachea, colon, biliary tract, or urinary tract.

Therapeutic inhibitor of vascular smooth muscle cells

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present methods for the direct and/or targeted delivery of therapeutic agents to vascular smooth muscle cells that cause a dilation and fixation of the vascular lumen by inhibiting smooth muscle cell contraction, thereby constituting a biological stent.

Medical devices and applications of polyhydroxyalkanoate polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, the degradation times of polyhydroxyalkanoates are controlled under physiological conditions, and the degradation rates are controlled with less than one year under certain physiological conditions.

Silver implantable medical device

TL;DR: In this paper, a coronary stent implantable medical device is defined as a structure 12 adapted for introduction into the vascular system, esophagus, trachea, colon, biliary tract, or urinary tract.

Drug coating with topcoat

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for a coating an implantable device or prosthesis is described, which includes an undercoat of polymeric material containing an amount of biologically active material, particularly heparin, dispersed therein.

Taxol-induced polymerization of purified tubulin. Mechanism of action.

TL;DR: There was a marked difference in the kinetics of tubulin polymerized in the presence of both taxol and MAP2 as compared to that obtained with either of them alone.

Assembly of purified GDP-tubulin into microtubules induced by taxol and taxotere: reversibility, ligand stoichiometry, and competition.

TL;DR: Purified tubulin fully liganded to GDP at the exchangeable nucleotide binding site has been prepared by a new direct nucleotide exchange procedure, and this ligand-induced equilibrium microtubule assembly system dispenses with the requirement of a gamma-phosphate-metal cation ligand bound at the nucleotide site for tubulin to be active.

Paclitaxel. A review of its pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties and therapeutic potential in the treatment of cancer

TL;DR: Paclitaxel was successfully combined with cisplatin, carboplatin and/or etoposide in patients with NSCLC, SCLC or advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck and was more effective than mitomycin in 50 patients with previously untreated breast cancer.

Effects of inhibitors of plasminogen activator, serine proteinases, and collagenase IV on the invasion of basement membranes by metastatic cells.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a protease cascade leads to the activation of an enzyme(s) that cleaves collagen IV, an enzyme implicated in the degradation of basement membranes, which reduces the invasion of the tumor cells through reconstituted basement membrane in vitro.

Absorbable vascular stent

TL;DR: An absorbable stent for placement at the locus of a stenotic lesion which is flexible and compliance for safe and effective delivery to the cite of a coronary obstruction, for example, and so as to avoid arterial rupture or aneurysm formation while under continuous stress of a beating heart is presented in this paper.
