TLDR
In this article, an anti-angiogenic factor and a polymeric carrier were used for embolization of blood vessels and eliminating biliary, urethral, esophageal, and tracheal/bronchial obstructions.
Abstract
The present invention provides compositions comprising an anti-angiogenic factor, and a polymeric carrier. Representative examples of anti-angiogenic factors include Anti-Invasive Factor, Retinoic acids and derivatives thereof, and paclitaxel. Also provided are methods for embolizing blood vessels, and eliminating biliary, urethral, esophageal, and tracheal/bronchial obstructions.

Therapeutic agent delivery device with protective separating layer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an implantable medical device for delivery of therapeutic agents, such as drugs, to a patient, which is protected by a protective layer that prevents or retards processes that deactivate or degrade the active agents.

Coatings for drug delivery devices

TL;DR: In this article, a variety of polymers are described to make coatings for medical devices, particularly, for drug delivery stents, including homo-, co-, and terpolymers.

Expandable medical device with openings for delivery of multiple beneficial agents

TL;DR: An expandable medical device includes a plurality of elongated struts, forming a substantially cylindrical device which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder with a second diameter as discussed by the authors.

Apparatus and Methods for Preventing or Treating Failure of Hemodialysis Vascular Access and Other Vascular Grafts

TL;DR: A prosthetic device placed on the outside surface of the vessel or graft which then elutes antiproliferative drugs or agents from a drug-eluting matrix material is described in this article.

The pathogenesis of atherosclerosis: a perspective for the 1990s

TL;DR: The ability to control the expression of genes encoding these molecules and to target specific cell types provides opportunities to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic agents to induce the regression of the lesions and, possibly, to prevent their formation.

Vascular endothelial growth factor induced by hypoxia may mediate hypoxia-initiated angiogenesis.

TL;DR: It is shown that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) probably functions as a hypoxia-inducible angiogenic factor and is specifically induced in a subset of glioblastoma cells distinguished by their immediate proximity to necrotic foci and the clustering of capillaries alongside VEGF-producing cells.

A Comparison of Balloon-Expandable-Stent Implantation with Balloon Angioplasty in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

TL;DR: The clinical and angiographic outcomes were better in patients who received a stent than in those who received standard coronary angioplasty, however, this benefit was achieved at the cost of a significantly higher risk of vascular complications at the access site and a longer hospital stay.

Tumor cells secrete a vascular permeability factor that promotes accumulation of ascites fluid.

TL;DR: Tumor ascites fluids from guinea pigs, hamsters, and mice contain activity that rapidly increases microvascular permeability, and this activity is secreted by these tumor cells and a variety of other tumor cell lines in vitro.
