TLDR
In this article, the authors demonstrate the infectious nature of chronic endometritis (CE) in an inductive way by comparing the results of germ-oriented antibiotic therapy vs. no treatment in women with CE.About:

Journal ArticleDOI
MUM-1 immunohistochemistry has high accuracy and reliability in the diagnosis of chronic endometritis: a multi-centre comparative study with CD-138 immunostaining.
Ettore Cicinelli,Sergio Haimovich,Dominique de Ziegler,Nili Raz,Dana Ben-Tzur,Alessandra Andrisani,Guido Ambrosini,Nico Picardi,V Cataldo,Marco Balzani,Rossana Cicinelli,Marco Noventa,Loris Marin,Pantaleo Greco,Leonardo Resta,Carlo Saccardi,Giovanni Buzzaccarini,Amerigo Vitagliano +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the reliability and accuracy of MUM-1 IHC, as compared with CD-138 IHC for chronic endometritis (CE) diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic Endometritis in Infertile Women: Impact of Untreated Disease, Plasma Cell Count and Antibiotic Therapy on IVF Outcome—A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Amerigo Vitagliano,Antonio Simone Laganà,Dominique de Ziegler,Rossana Cicinelli,Carla Mariaflavia Santarsiero,Giovanni Buzzaccarini,Vito Chiantera,Ettore Cicinelli,Marco Marinaccio +8 more
TL;DR: Based on this data analysis, CE significantly reduces OPR/LBR and CPR in women undergoing IVF, and CE resolution after antibiotic therapy may improves IVF outcome, leading to similar O PR/L BR and CPR as compared to unaffected patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does antibiotic therapy for chronic endometritis improve clinical outcomes of patients with recurrent implantation failure in subsequent IVF cycles? A systematic review and meta-analysis
TL;DR: Antibiotic treatment may improve the pregnancy outcomes of Rif patients in subsequent IVF cycles only if the condition of CE is confirmed cured in a control biopsy afterwards, and no sufficient evidence has shown improvements in clinical outcomes in RIF patients with persistent CE.

Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic endometritis is a frequent finding in women with recurrent implantation failure after in vitro fertilization
E.B. Johnston-MacAnanny,Janice Hartnett,Lawrence Engmann,John Nulsen,Melinda Sanders,Claudio Benadiva +5 more
TL;DR: Recurrent implantation failure warrants investigation of CE as a contributing factor in patients undergoing IVF-ET who repeatedly failed to conceive despite the transfer of good-quality embryos; however, there were no differences in subsequent clinical pregnancy or ongoing pregnancy rates after successful antibiotic treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of chronic endometritis in repeated unexplained implantation failure and the IVF success rate after antibiotic therapy
Ettore Cicinelli,Maria Matteo,Raffaele Tinelli,Achiropita Lepera,Raffaello Alfonso,Ugo Indraccolo,Sonia Marrocchella,Pantaleo Greco,Leonardo Resta +8 more
TL;DR: In women with RIF a hysteroscopic evaluation of the uterine cavity to exclude CE should be considered and appropriate antibiotic treatment should be given before submitting the patient to a further IVF attempt.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic Endometritis Due to Common Bacteria Is Prevalent in Women With Recurrent Miscarriage as Confirmed by Improved Pregnancy Outcome After Antibiotic Treatment
Ettore Cicinelli,Maria Matteo,Raffaele Tinelli,Vincenzo Pinto,Marco Marinaccio,Ugo Indraccolo,Dominique de Ziegler,Leonardo Resta +7 more
TL;DR: Antibiotic treatment seems to be associated with an improved reproductive outcome and the CE is frequent in women with RM, and the occurrence of successful pregnancies within 1 year after treatment was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic endometritis: correlation among hysteroscopic, histologic, and bacteriologic findings in a prospective trial with 2190 consecutive office hysteroscopies.
Ettore Cicinelli,Dominique de Ziegler,Roberto Nicoletti,Giuseppe Colafiglio,Nicola Saliani,Leonardo Resta,Donatella Rizzi,Danila De Vito +7 more
TL;DR: More than 70% of CE cases resulted from nongonococcal, nonchlamydial infections, and common bacteria and Mycoplasma were the most frequent etiologic agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endometritis: new time, new concepts.
TL;DR: The aim of this review is to address the current literature surrounding chronic endometritis and highlight recent advances in the research of this long-neglected gynecologic disease.
