Black holes and critical points in moduli space

TLDR
In this article, the authors studied the stabilization of scalars near a supersymmetric black hole horizon using the equation of motion of a particle moving in a potential and background metric, and they showed that extremal value of the central charge provides the minimal value of BPS mass and of the potential under the condition that the moduli space metric is positive at the critical point.

Anti De Sitter Space And Holography

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the Kaluza-Klein modes of Type IIB supergravity on $AdS_5\times {\bf S}^5$ match with the chiral operators of the super Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions.

Anti de sitter space and holography

TL;DR: In this article, a correspondence between conformal field theory observables and those of supergravity was proposed, where correlation functions in conformal fields are given by the dependence of the supergravity action on the asymptotic behavior at infinity.

Anti-de Sitter Space, Thermal Phase Transition, And Confinement in Gauge Theories

TL;DR: The correspondence between supergravity and string theory on AdS space and boundary conformal eld theory relates the thermodynamics of N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions to the thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild black holes in Anti-de Sitter space as mentioned in this paper.

Anti-de Sitter Space, Thermal Phase Transition, And Confinement In Gauge Theories

TL;DR: The correspondence between supergravity and string theory on $AdS$ space and boundary conformal field theory relates the thermodynamics of super Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions to the thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild black holes in Anti-de Sitter space as discussed by the authors.

Correlation functions in the CFTd/AdSd+1 correspondence

TL;DR: In this article, the 3-point amplitudes for scalar fields of arbitrary mass and gauge fields in the AdS supergravity were calculated explicitly for three gauge fields and compared with the known conformal structure of the SU (4) flavor current correlator of the N = 4, d = 4 SU (N ) SYM theory.

Black Holes and Membranes in Higher Dimensional Theories with Dilaton Fields

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider scale invariant theories which couple gravity to Maxwell fields and antisymmetric tensor fields with a dilaton field, and they exhibit in a unified way solutions representing black hole, space-time membrane, vortex and cosmological solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

N=2 extremal black holes.

TL;DR: It is shown that extremal magnetic black hole solutions of N=2 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets with a generic holomorphic prepotential F can be described as supersymmetric solitons which interpolate between maximally symmetric limiting solutions at spatial infinity and the horizon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supersymmetry and attractors.

TL;DR: The results provide an explicit model-independent expression for the macroscopic Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of {ital N}=2 black holes which is manifestly duality invariant.

Massless black holes and conifolds in string theory

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that low-energy effective field theories arising from Calabi-Yau string compactifications are generically inconsistent or ill-defined at the classical level because of conifold singularities in the moduli space.
Journal ArticleDOI

Riemannian geometry in thermodynamic fluctuation theory

TL;DR: The covariant thermodynamic fluctuation theory as mentioned in this paper is an extension of the basic structure of the classical one of a subsystem in contact with an infinite uniform reservoir, where a hierarchy of concentric subsystems, each of which samples only the thermodynamic state of the subsystem immediately larger than it, is used.
