TLDR
The radiographic density of a typical age-hardening aluminium alloy containing 4 per cent copper was found to exceed significantly that of aluminium of 99·5 per cent purity, and the radiopacity of materials when expressed in terms of ‘equivalent thickness of metal’ is greater relative to pure aluminium than with this type of aluminium alloy.

Radiopacity of dental materials using a digital X-ray system

TL;DR: A simplified, consistent digital method for determining radiopacity is presented and linearity allows the correlation to be accurately deduced from fewer data points than required by the ISO and ANSI/ADA protocols.

Aluminium radiopacity standards for dentistry: an international survey.

TL;DR: Of the examined representative step-wedges, all but the aluminium--4% copper material were satisfactory and gave results comparable with wedges of high purity, so limits should be revised for composition of aluminium radiopacity step- wedges or test blocks to a more realistic level of purity.

Radiopaque polymeric materials for medical applications. Current aspects of biomaterial research.

TL;DR: In the near future, research will certainly concentrate on biocompatible radiopaque polymers with covalently bound opaque elements leading to stablepolymers with properties equivalent to the nonopaque, parent polymer.

Microleakage of dentine-bonded posterior composite restorations

TL;DR: In this paper, the marginal leakage of extensive class II preparations that had been restored with light-cured posterior composite materials using dentine-bonding agents or glass-ionomer cement linings was assessed and quantified using digital imaging microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiopacity of composites compared with human enamel and dentine.

TL;DR: A 99.5 per cent pure aluminium step-wedge served as reference for evaluating the radiopacity of 55 anterior and posterior composites, finding that some composites intended for posterior use lack theRadiopacity required for posterior composite restorations.

In vivo and in vitro Wear of Potential Posterior Composites

TL;DR: Among the composite resins tested, there was no acceptable resin-based amalgam substitute for wear, and wear resistance tends to increase both as cavity size decreases, and also from chemical- to light- to heat-cured.

Radiopacity of root canal sealers.

TL;DR: A standardized and reproducible method of radiopacity measurements of dental materials is presented and measurements of forty root canal sealers demonstrated wide variations among the different types.

An investigation of the radiopacity of composite restorative materials

TL;DR: The radiopacity of 33 commercially available composite materials was measured in terms of their equivalent thickness of an aluminum alloy per unit thickness of material and the theoretical significance of this definition was discussed.
