TLDR
In this paper, the internal structure of different sub-regimes of slug flow is analyzed and five distinct slug flow subregimes are identified based on the visual observations, which correspond to slug at formation stage (onset of slug); less aerated slug; highly aerated slugs; slug and plug; and slug and wavy.

Low-Yield Genesis of Coalbed Methane Stripper Wells in China and Key Technologies for Increasing Gas Production

TL;DR: In this article , a series of key secondary stimulation technologies for coalbed methane (CBM) stripper wells are put forward, including low-damage fracturing fluid for preventing reservoir damages, proppants with multigraded sizes for supporting multilevel fractures, large-scale fracture network stimulation (FNS) for improving reservoir permeability, and coal measure gas development for increasing the exploitable resources within a single well scope, as well as coordinated stimulation of parent-child wells for the overall production improvement of low-yield blocks.

Black-box real-time identification of sub-regime of gas-liquid flow using Ultrasound Doppler Velocimetry with deep learning

TL;DR: In this paper, a black-box method based on velocity information and deep learning was proposed to identify the sub-regimes of gas-liquid flow in real time, including two parts, data acquisition and establishment of the identification model.

Experimental study on controllable pseudo-slug flow characteristics in horizontal pipe

TL;DR: In this article, a controllable generator was designed to mimic the horizontal pseudo-slug flow in horizontal pipe and the spatial and temporal distribution evolution at radial and axial directions were investigated according to the flow visualization, which includes high-speed camera and wire-mesh sensor (WMS).

Effect of solid particles on the slug frequency, velocity and length of intermittent gas-liquid two-phase flows in horizontal pipelines

TL;DR: In this paper , an automated image processing algorithm is developed to determine slug parameters of 59 flow conditions and compared with other measurements techniques, and curves of non-dimensional parameters are fitted to the data, the best fitting is obtained for the gas based Strouhal number against the input liquid or gas fraction.

A model for predicting flow regime transitions in horizontal and near horizontal gas-liquid flow

TL;DR: In this article, a generalized flow regime map based on this theory is presented, which is used for determining flow regime transitions in two-phase gas-liquid flow, and the mechanisms for transition are based on physical concepts and are fully predictive.

A flow pattern map for gas—liquid flow in horizontal pipes

TL;DR: Govier and Aziz as mentioned in this paper used flow pattern maps for two-phase gas-liquid flow in horizontal pipes and compared them with the 5935 flow pattern observations currently contained in the UC Multiphase Pipe Flow Data Bank.

The onset of slugging in horizontal stratified air-water flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple criterion for the transition from stratified flow to the slug or plug flow regime in horizontal rectangular ducts is presented and a theoretical model is developed and shown to be consistent with data obtained by blowing air over stationary water in channels with a wide range of geometrical parameters.

Prediction of the initiation of slugs with linear stability theory

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the application of linear stability theory to explain the onset of slugging and showed that the inviscid Kelvin-Helmholtz theory correctly predicts stability of a stratified flow only for very large liquid viscosities.
