Ming-Tsang Wu,Ming-Tsang Wu,Lee Yc,Chien-Chuan Chen,Pei-Wen Yang,Chun-Jean Lee,Deng-Chyang Wu,Hsu Hk,Chi-Kung Ho,Ein-Long Kao,Jang-Ming Lee +10 more
TL;DR: Among 104 cases of squamous-cell oesophageal carcinoma patients and 277 controls in Taiwan, after adjusting for cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and other confounders, it is found that subjects who chewed from 1 to 495 betel-year and more than 495Betel-years had 3.6-fold and 9.2-fold risk of developing oesophileal cancer, compared to those who did not chew betel.

Manjeshwar Shrinath Baliga,Rosmy Jimmy,Karadka Ramdas Thilakchand,Venkatesh Sunitha,Neeta Raghavendra Bhat,Elroy Saldanha,Suresh Rao,Pratima Rao,Rajesh Arora,Princy Louis Palatty +9 more
TL;DR: The aqueous extract of Tulsi and its flavanoids, orintin, and vicenin are shown to protect mice against γ-radiation-induced sickness and mortality and to selectively protect the normal tissues against the tumoricidal effects of radiation.

Inducing the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of oral KB carcinoma cells by hydroxychavicol: roles of glutathione and reactive oxygen species.
TL;DR: Results indicate that HC exerts antioxidant property at low concentration, and also inhibits the growth, adhesion and cell cycle progression of KB cells, whereas its induction of KB cell apoptosis was accompanied by cellular redox changes.

Levels of glutathione, glutathione reductase and glutathione S-transferase activities in rat lung and liver.
TL;DR: The activities of some glutathione-metabolizing enzymes were observed to be 5-to 60-fold lower in lung tissue than in the liver, and that phenobarbital nor methylcholanthrene had a significant effect on the levels of reduced glutATHione in lung and liver.
