TLDR
It was found that carbamazepine had direct competition with l-tryptophan, a probe for the indole-benzodiazepine site of HSA, but allosteric interactions with probes for the warfarin, tamoxifen and digitoxin sites.

The extraordinary ligand binding properties of human serum albumin

TL;DR: The globular domain structural organization of monomeric HSA is at the root of its allosteric properties which are reminiscent of those of multimeric proteins.

High-performance affinity chromatography: a powerful tool for studying serum protein binding

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the use of high-performance affinity chromatography (HPAC) in biological systems is presented, focusing on the techniques of zonal elution and frontal analysis.

Pharmaceutical and biomedical applications of affinity chromatography: recent trends and developments.

TL;DR: Affinity chromatography is a separation technique that has become increasingly important in work with biological samples and pharmaceutical agents as mentioned in this paper, which is based on the use of a biologically related agent as a stationary phase to selectively retain analytes or to study biological interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sorption-desorption of carbamazepine from irrigated soils.

TL;DR: Results indicate that initial removal of carbamazepine via adsorption from irrigation water is significant and that desorption characteristics would further limit the mobility of carbazepine through the soil profile indicating that carbamazEPine found in sewage effluent used for irrigation has a low leaching potential.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applications of silica supports in affinity chromatography

TL;DR: The role that silica has played in the development of affinity chromatography and HPAC and the applications of silica in these methods is discussed and the types of ligands employed with silica and the methods by which these ligands have been immobilized are discussed.

Further characterization of specific drug binding sites on human serum albumin.

TL;DR: The specificity of the sites for particular drugs, even at high drug to albumin ratios, was established, and the specificity and characteristics of the two sites on human adult and neonatal sera were shown to be similar to those on crystalline HSA.

Practical Aspects of the Ligand-Binding and Enzymatic Properties of Human Serum Albumin

TL;DR: A tabulation of high-affinity binding sites for both endogenous and exogenous compounds has been made; it could be useful for the above-mentioned purpose, but it could also be of value when trying to predict potential drug interactions at the protein-binding level.
