Induction of giant cells by the synthetic food colorants viz. lemon yellow and orange red

TL;DR: All mitotic phases show significant induction of giant cells when treated with both food colorants, and Interphase stage shows higher percentage of Giant cells, whereas in cytokinesis it was negligible.
Journal Article

Tendrils as an Alternate Tissue Source for Chromosome Visualization

R.C. Yadav, +1 more
- 01 May 1993 -
TL;DR: Tendrils were used as an alternate tissue source to determine the ploidy level of transgenic melon (Cucumis melo L) plants as mentioned in this paper, which can be very useful for chromosome visualization in tendril-producing species.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Time Course Study of the Relative Cytotoxic Effects of Extracts of Different Types of Tobacco on Allium cepa Mitosis

TL;DR: The mutachromosomal and mutagenic effects of water soluble extracts of different forms of tobacco preparations used in India, were observed on the plant system Allium cepa in vivo and Mitotic index indicated that certain concentrations of tobacco extracts were mitogenic in Allium cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variable multivalent orientations during diakinesis and metaphase I in microsporocytes of Tradescantia spathacea Sw.

TL;DR: As a result of complex configurations at metaphase I and the high frequency of univalents, anaphase I segregation of chromosomes was highly irregular with 84% cells showing 1–3 lagging chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

A taxonomic investigation of variation withinCissus quadrangularis L. (Vitaceae) in Kenya

TL;DR: The hypothesis that the variation within C. quadrangularis represents distinct kinds that can be recognized as taxa at infra-specific level is supported.
