Spontaneous systemic hypertension in 24 cats.

TL;DR: Twenty-four cats with spontaneous systemic hypertension were retrospectively studied and common findings included retinal hemorrhages/detachments, low-grade systolic murmurs, cardiomegaly with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), small kidneys, mild azotemia, and urine specific gravity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reciprocal chromosome painting reveals detailed regions of conserved synteny between the karyotypes of the domestic dog (Canis familiaris) and human.

TL;DR: This study conducted the first detailed whole-genome comparison of human and dog using bidirectional heterologous chromosome painting (reciprocal Zoo-FISH) analysis and identified 68 evolutionarily conserved segments between the dog and the human karyotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of body condition score on blood metabolites and hormonal profiles in ewes

TL;DR: Gl glucose, non-esterified fatty acids and insulin provided the more reliable information for the diagnosis of the ewe's energy status and albumin and urea of the protein status and with a BCS below 2 or above 3 ewes seem more susceptibility to metabolic imbalances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Animal models for the assessment of novel vascular conduits.

TL;DR: The rationale behind animal models used in the assessment of small-diameter vascular conduits encompassing the commonly used species: baboons, sheep, pigs, dogs, rabbits, and rodents is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

The PHA test reflects acquired T-cell mediated immunocompetence in birds.

TL;DR: These findings justify the widespread use of the PHA-skin test as a reliable evaluator of acquired T-cell mediated immunocompetence in diverse biological disciplines.
