Journal ArticleDOI

Serum electrolyte and protein modification during different workload in jumper horse

TL;DR: It is confirmed that exercise has variable effects, depending on work intensity, on some electrolytes, total protein and haematocrit and that it is appropriate to correlate these electrolytic modifications to blood density.
Journal ArticleDOI

The chronic toxicity of diphenylamine for dogs.

TL;DR: DPA, mixed with an adequate diet in concentrations of 0.01, 0.10, and 1.0%, was fed daily to male and female beagles for two years, finding a peripherolobular fatty change in the liver with a marked increase in liver weight and ether-extractable lipids and a mild hemosiderosis of the spleen, kidneys, and bone marrow.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protein-deficient diet alters serum alkaline phosphatase, bile acids, proteins and urea nitrogen in dogs.

TL;DR: Inadequate dietary protein intake in dogs can occur in a number of clinical situations, including prolonged voluntary anorexia, feeding of improperly formulated homemade diets (i.e., vegetarian) and overzealous protein restriction for the management of hepatic dis ease, renal insufficiency or struvite urolithiasis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of a competitive immunoassay for the detection of bovine haptoglobin

TL;DR: Serum albumin concentration did not correlate with hp although concentrations of globulins and copper did correlate, however, these parameters (serum globulin and copper) were found to be insensitive markers of inflammatory disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of automated plasmapheresis on clinical, haematological, biochemical and coagulation variables in horses.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the collection of 20 mL of plasma/kg body weight via plasmapheresis results in mild changes in several haematological, biochemical and coagulation variables, although these were of no clinical relevance for the donors.
