Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative pathogenesis in specific-pathogen-free chickens of two strains of avian hepatitis E virus recovered from a chicken with Hepatitis-Splenomegaly syndrome and from a clinically healthy chicken.
TL;DR: The results indicated that the avian HEV-VA strain is only slightly attenuated compared to the prototype strain, suggesting that the full spectrum of HS syndrome is likely associated with other co-factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transgenerational effects of feeding genetically modified maize to nulliparous sows and offspring on offspring growth and health.
Stefan G. Buzoianu,Maria Walsh,Mary C. Rea,Mary C. Rea,Joseph P. Cassidy,Tomas Ryan,R.P. Ross,R.P. Ross,Gillian E. Gardiner,Peadar G. Lawlor +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that transgenerational consumption of Bt maize diets is not detrimental to pig growth and health, and serum biochemistry values generally remained within normal limits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory blood analysis in Strigiformes-Part II: plasma biochemistry reference intervals and agreement between the Abaxis Vetscan V2 and the Roche Cobas c501.
TL;DR: This study suggests that the Vetscan has acceptable clinical performance in Strigiformes for some analytes and highlights discrepancies for several analytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of Liver Function in Galahs (Eolophus roseicapillus) After Partial Hepatectomy: A Comparison of Plasma Enzyme Concentrations, Serum Bile Acid Levels, and Galactose Clearance Tests
TL;DR: Galactose clearance and GEC-SA have the potential to be sensitive assays of hepatic functional mass, for use as a noninvasive method of monitoring hepatic function in birds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reference intervals for hematological and biochemical parameters, acute phase proteins and markers of oxidation in Holstein dairy cows around 3 and 30 days after calving
Pierangelo Moretti,Saverio Paltrinieri,Erminio Trevisi,M. Probo,Annarita Ferrari,Andrea Minuti,Alessia Giordano +6 more
TL;DR: The use of RIs specific for the lactation period is highly justified from both a statistical and a biological point of view.
